Let Go of Stress by Letting Go of Expectations of Others

When you're disappointed, frustrated, or angry with someone, you can bet that there is an expectation of them that isn't being met. You may or may not be aware of at the time.
The more you expect from others and don't receive, the greater the stress and frustration.
These conscious or unconscious demands need a little deciphering on your part. What is it that you really want or need? Why do you need that?
Often the person you are expecting something from doesn't even know what it is. Remember, they can't read your mind; also, you may not be aware of what it is you want and why it's important to you.
Be clear about why and what you want from others and then be willing to let go of the outcome. Here are a few examples of expectations of others; see if any of these ring any bells for you.
So and so "should"...
help out morebe nicerstop procrastinatingcall mebe there for melisten to meknow what I need or want without me telling themrecognize or appreciate what I do for thembe on timeoffer assistancedo choresnot be dishonestbe a better person- friend, family member, partner, child, boss, co-workerlike/love meunderstand menot expect me to do thingschangebe gratefulbe happiernot make the same mistakes againknow better
Do any of these sound familiar? Perhaps some other ones became apparent as you read the list.
You may even have different expectations for different people. When they aren't living up to your wishes, the end result is still the same, disappointment, frustration, anger, hurt, resentment, sadness and so on. This all adds up to extra stress in your life.
The moment you consciously or unconsciously place an expectation on someone, you have a hidden agenda and that agenda is to meet your needs, wants or desires.
The only person that needs to meet your requirements is you! Sure, it would be nice if people did or said things without you having to ask them, or the way you wanted things to be, but that's not always the case, so what do you do?
Try putting the word "I" before the list of phrases above. Hmm... now that makes a lot more sense. How many of these are you doing for you? How about for others?
Maybe you are already doing some things and, since you're doing them you presume that others should also. Or you have told the person what you want and he/she still isn't doing it and you think he/she should. Or he/she is doing something but not the way you want. Either way it all adds up to expectations-yours.
You can ask someone to change his/her ways, or be more or do more, and they may or may not concede; but when you let go of the expectation, then things happen as they do and not as you believe they "should".
The only person that needs to change is you; or at least your reaction or response to others when they aren't living up to what you would like is a good start to letting it go.
Take the word "should" out of your vocabulary and replace it with the word "could". The word "could" holds much less expectation and leaves it open for possibilities not disappointment.
For example, Mary is always late; she should be on time; transforms to Mary could be on time but she isn't today. I appreciate that I am a punctual person.
Take notice of how you feel when someone is late. Where do you go with your thoughts?
Listen to what surfaces for you when someone doesn't measure up to your beliefs and standards. Maybe you feel unloved, unappreciated, unworthy, not respected, not heard, etc. What can you do for you that helps you feel the opposite of the way you are feeling? What are you doing for that person that helps them feel the way you would like to feel?
Using the example of someone being late, you can be upset that the person is late or you could spend the time reading, writing, or centering yourself before they arrive, etc. Quite a different approach to someones tardiness, isn't it?
If you know a person is always 15 minutes late then you can slow down and not rush to be there and give yourself the extra time getting there, or let go of the expectation that he/she will be on time and enjoy divine timing instead.
You can explain why being on time or anything else is important to you, and even go so far as to tell them how you feel when they don't do what you ask of them but that doesn't mean that they will change their ways.
When you share your feelings, do you presume people should do things differently and if they truly cared, they would do what you asked of them?
Check in to see if you value yourself. Often people don't feel they deserve what they are asking for and therefore never ask, or when they do, they squash the positive with a negative before it even has a chance to manifest.
Remember, just as you have beliefs of how things should be, others also have beliefs of how they should be and they more than likely will differ.
When we understand ourselves better, we are given an opportunity to understand others better as well. We aren't that different. Just our beliefs, perceptions and expectations are.
Can you let go of the expectation of others today?
Can you let go of how things "should" be?
If you can, you will find your stress letting go right along with it.

Learning About Stress And Insomnia - Are You Suffering From Them?

Insomnia means difficulty sleeping whether it is difficulty in falling asleep called sleep onset insomnia or difficulty in staying asleep, called maintenance insomnia. Stress is one of the common reasons for insomnia and vice versa.

In this article we will look into the relationship between stress and insomnia. If you suffer from insomnia which is causing stress in your daily life, you may find answers to your questions by reading this article.

With all the pressures of the modern life and the work deadlines, the stress has becomes an inevitable part of our life. During our work, we have to work long hours and sometimes to meet our deadlines we need to work late at night thus we may not get the sufficient hours of sleep that are required, which will naturally leave us tired.

If people have not had enough sleep they will start suffering from headaches, body aches, emotional breakdowns, and will feel physically and mentally stressed in their work.

Though the number of hours of sleep may vary among individuals but the medical science has proven that each person needs a certain number of hours of uninterrupted sleep every night in order to regain full energy and concentration for work the following day and remain healthy and if anyone is not getting his or her required hours of sleep, he or she will not be able to recuperate his body for the next day and will become more stressful during the following day.

Lack of sleep can also cause people to be more accident-prone and be susceptible to injuries due to lack of concentration. It will also make them more prone to mistakes in their work, which can lead to further stress. Thus insomnia and stress can cause a serious damage to someone's physical and mental health.

There are several methods one can use to handle with the stress. There are certain relaxation exercises that one can practice before going to sleep, which will help them to clear their mind and prepare it to sleep in a moment's time.

Another important thing is to let the stress remain where it belongs. The home is the place to relax and one should try not to bring unfinished work home. Try to finish it in the office.

Stress and insomnia are indeed very closely related. If we are able to handle and manage our stress well, we can overcome insomnia easily and get back to a peaceful and refreshing sleep.

Easy Ways to Manage Stress

Stress is defined as a response of our bodies to challenges of everyday life. This response can be mental and physical, and can often be triggered by many different factors. There are two types of stress, one that presents opportunity for growth known as Eustress. The other type is negative stress called Distress, which can result in deliberative strain. Negative thought that come with stress, manifest into chemical reactions that bring more stress into the body and lowering the immune system. Most people are not aware that stress can cause the immune system to get weaker by reducing the ability of the natural killer T-cells. The natural killer-T cells get destroyed or reduced by the adrenal hormones who's levels get elevated during a prolonged periods of stress. During the flu season, most visits to the doctor or urgent care are due to flu-like symptoms, which in most cases turn out to be upper respiratory infections. Those who are prone to upper respiratory infections should consider stress as a likely cause of illness.

Since there are so many causes of stress, thankfully there are also ways to reduce, manage, and even eliminate some of the stress out of the day. First step in managing stress is to identify and reduce the sources of it. It is important to take time out and breathe; breathing can alter the psychological state. It is okay to say "no" before overloading yourself with too many commitments, this will also give you better control of your life. Exercising is highly recommended. It increases the secretion of endorphins, which are naturally produced substances that induce the feelings of peacefulness. Make time for one fun activity daily. Do not underestimate the power of a good laugh.

Laughter can make it a lot easier to cope with difficult situations, it is also know to ease pain, so please do the "lol" - laugh out loud. Pets are always a good companion and something as easy as petting your dog can be beneficial for both. It may not seem like it's a big deal, but if you pet your dog for a few minutes your body will release feel-good hormones like Serotonin, Prolactin, and Oxytocin. Orange juice is suggested during flu season for its vitamin C, but it can also boost the immune system due to the fact that vitamin C lowers the levels of stress hormones like Cortisol. However, if the stress levels are to high to handle, and they begin to interfere with your life, professional opinion may be necessary. If it affect your sleep, appetite and begins to cause anxiety, it is okay to ask for help.

Lower the stress levels not just for the psychological and emotional, but also for the physical reasons. It will improve your health and the quality of life. Laugh often, relax, enjoy the small things, and take control of the stress, do not let it control you.

Stress, Health, and Wealth

How you're able to deal with stress, will determine your wellness and wealth. All types of emotional and physical disorders can be caused by stress and thus effect mood and behavior. All of our thoughts enter our system as energy and those carrying emotional, psychological, mental, or spiritual energy are stored in cellular memory as biological responses. Learning to minimize stress is a function of mind-body activity that can be facilitated tremendously with hypnosis.

Stress shows up in everyone's lives. It can come from our relationships, work or home environments, or any other situation. Our actions to stressors dictate how we're affected and unfortunately many of us easily become overwhelmed. Millions of people around the world are trying to cope with the consequences as we deal with the challenges present in 2011. Much helpful information is available through The American Institute of Stress at stress.org where you'll find 50 common signs and symptoms.

We try to not let stress and anxiety affect our relationships but it often does. When we find ourselves uncharacteristically being rude to co-workers or short with our loved ones, even snapping at defenseless children, it's easy to see something needs to change. The behavior makes us feel even worse, which tends to increase stress levels even more, compounding the problem.

Hypnosis can often break the reactionary chain by giving us the tools we need to understand what the stress and anxiety is doing to us. When we "react" rather than "act" typically there is an underlying subconscious program producing that behavior. Caroline Myss, Ph.D. says, "Every thought you have had has traveled through your biological system and activated a physiological response." "Some thoughts are like depth charges, causing a reaction throughout the body." She provides an example of the physical manifestation of symptoms related to fear, where heart rate increases, the stomach may tighten, or you may breakout in a sweat. A hypnotherapist can calm anxiety and teach the patient how to activate thoughts and physical actions that can help alleviate those unhealthy reactions.

Sometimes there may be no logical reason for a fear. It is then you can be sure a subconscious memory from an unpleasant experience is activating that automatic reaction. Example: A dog that frightened you as a child may be responsible for your aversion to dogs as an adult. "Viewing the event" again through access to the unconscious mind can then permit the logical conscious awareness to recognize there is no reason to "hate dogs".

Hypnotherapy offers options to deal with anxiety and stress in such a way that reprogrammed behavior provides desired actions. You will be able to deal with everyday stress in a positive rather than a negative manner. This unfortunately does not mean that you'll simply be totally and permanently shielded from the effects of stress. Events in our lives can be serious enough to challenge wellness over an extended period of time. An example would be dealing with the stress and consequences of a job loss. The competent therapist will help you understand that the "unemployment stress" need not be viewed as an absolute all or nothing event. "Positive" and "negative" define the same continuum and you have the ability to move your wellness gage in a healthier direction with specific thoughts and actions which can be learned.

Learning to mentally affect your physiology is one of the healthiest of undertakings available to you. Your body will thank you; so will your family and friends. Stress is linked to everything from the common cold, to AIDS, and cancer. A hypnotherapist can help you activate powerful tools available to reduce stress and boost your personal mood and wellness.

The author, R.D. Cooper, C.Ht has maintained a curiosity regarding deeper sense of self, connectedness to others, nature, and the spiritual dimension for over 25-years. He is a student, teacher, and guide who believes: Logically, if unconscious beliefs largely guide daily behavior, either limiting or empowering... why wouldn't people want to truly understand how to powerfully step into The Greatest Reality Show on Earth... the one they write the script for everyday... and unlock the full potential of their original blueprint? Hypnotherapy does just that. Roy is associated with Wendy Hill, M.A., CCHT, a certified clinical hypnotherapist specializing in transforming self defeating core beliefs. Relieve and Manage Stress Using the Power of TFT, EFT and QEPR

Stress, Anxiety and the 'tapping' therapies

What is stress and anxiety? How does it affect you? It is a common and normal fact of life that no matter who we are, where we live or how old we are most of us experience some form of stress and anxiety throughout our daily lives. Be it work pressures and deadlines, getting the kids to school on time or some memory that continues to bother us.

Stress and anxiety affects us all to one degree or another. Some people even say they need an element of stress in their lives, to motivate them to take action, to give them an edge, to work on something or to perform better.

Whilst a certain amount of stress is fine, and in-fact probably beneficial to protect or motivate us to take action, it can sometimes be too much and too relentless. Even to the point where it no longer stimulates us to take action but in-fact brings about fear or stagnates us, leading to in-action and procrastination.

Stress and anxiety has huge effects on our lives, it can lead us to drink, makes us gain weight, smoke, quit our jobs, fight with a loved one, feel depressed, perform poorly, or lack general motivation and energy and creates aches, pains and muscular tension.

How does stress and anxiety affect your life?

Apart from the emotional and psychological effects of stress it has been shown to greatly affect us physiologically too. It is estimated that 75% of all doctors visits are due to stress related ailments.

Stress and anxiety affects the immune system and can often influence the onset of, or the susceptibility to illness and disease. It can also affect the progression of illness or disease, and of course can greatly affect recovery time.

It affects the heart, increases the risk of coronary artery disease, elevates blood pressure, increases atherosclerosis, increases the risk of myocardial infarction, increases the risk of diabetes and increases the likelihood of obesity.

Stress has been linked to:

? cancer
? diabetes
? breakdown in the immune system
? auto-immune diseases
? alcohol and substance abuse
? cardiovascular disease

Therefore as you can see stress plays a major part in both our emotional and physical health.

Baby shampoo of therapies!

TFT, EFT and QEPR - the baby shampoo of therapies? A client of mine once called them this after I reduced the sadness around the loss of a loved one, noting the 'tapping' was a very simple and effective technique that was both gentle, safe and tearless!

According to Dawson Church Ph.D author of 'Genie in Your Genes' - 'This (EFT) maybe the most important new therapy to arrive in both medicine and psychology for a century'

As you will notice when you visit a practitioner or use them yourself, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), TFT (Thought Field Therapy) and QEPR (Quantum Emotional and Physical Release) are simply to apply techniques that quickly relax you. They will help to reduce any stress or anxiety easily from your life, and because they can easily be self-applied they're extremely convenient being available for you to use day and night, whenever and wherever you need them! You will be in control of your own emotional well-being, benefiting not only you but all those around you.

However, by using the techniques mentioned will no longer have to exclusively rely on time consuming and expensive therapies or countless medications for help, and it doesn't take years, days, even hours of practice to be able to gain substantial emotional relief.

'Your sub-conscious mind needs to get re-programmed' Jack Canfield Co-creator 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' and featured in the hit movie ' The Secret'

Proven Effective

I am always very excited and passionate whenever I have the opportunity to talk or write about TFT, EFT or QEPR. Not only because they are techniques that can safely reduce or as in most cases completely eliminate a wide range of emotional or psychological problems from fears and phobias to general stress, anxiety, worry and grief, but because they are generally so easily learned and have been proven effective on many thousands of people's problems worldwide from doctors, and top CEO's to movie stars and sports personalities.

I know in this ever increasing fast paced life of ours there are many demands on our time and we want things easier, quicker and cheaper, and this is what makes these modalities stand apart from most other techniques. They are immediately accessible wherever you are, and when self-applied at no cost.

Therefore, it is my wish with a series of easy to read and understand books and videos to make TFT, EFT and QEPR as simple and straightforward as possible, so that you can within a very short time start gaining relief on any emotional problem you may be facing.

The Benefits of EFT - From Weight Loss to Stress Relief

Breakthroughs

Many of the advancements you see today regarding health and medicine would have seemed unbelievable 25 years ago, but are now an accepted and regular part of many lives, as are modalities like Meditation and Yoga.

But unlike these highly visible breakthroughs and familiar modalities the advances within the realm of psychological and pain relieving techniques has gone generally un-noticed. Notably, 'Emotional Freedom Techniques' or EFT.

What is EFT?

EFT is a deceptively simple but decidedly effective technique that quickly reduces, or as in many cases completely resolves even the most chronic emotional or physical problem. It's based on the 5000 year old proven Chinese Acupuncture principles that throughout the body runs 14 micro-electrical pathways called the Meridians, situated along which are hundreds of microscopic but powerful energy points. When a combination of specific points are stimulated often by needles, the body's energy becomes balanced bringing about emotional and physical well-being.

EFT is a psychological version of Acupuncture, except no needles are used. Instead the client sits as a few specific and powerful upper body Meridian points are tapped whilst they lightly focus a few minutes at a time upon their issue.

East meets west

Success eliminating psychological and physical problems using Meridian tapping was discovered quite by chance 25 years ago by Psychologist Dr Roger Callaghan.

A patient, Mary, sought help after trying everything to cure a life long terrifying water phobia. In consultations she often said 'Every time I look at or think of water I feel it right here in my stomach'. One time Callaghan got an idea. Knowing a little Acupuncture he instructed Mary to tap a specific Meridian point as she thought about her fear. He didn't expect much but thought the tapping might balance or unblock her energy.

After a few minutes Mary stopped tapping with an amazed look. 'It's gone, the feeling in the pit of my stomach, and I'm not afraid anymore!' Callaghan was very skeptical but upon testing confirmed she was phobia free, and remains so to this day.

After years of research Callaghan formulated various tapping sequences for presenting problems, calling his method Though Field Therapy or TFT. However, one of his first students Gary Craig simplified and modified the method and named his version EFT.

How it works

Callaghan discovered that when we experience a distressing thought the Meridians gets disrupted. An electrical 'zzzzzt' short-circuit affect occurs within the body and it's this, not the thought or memory itself that causes many emotional or physical problems to arise. If it were just the thought, we'd all be afraid of spiders for instance!

Distressing Thought > 'zzzzzt' short-circuit = Emotion

Tapping at the middle stage releases, balances and resets the body's 'zzzzt' energy imbalance, breaking the link to the previously felt negative emotion or pain.

A four year back pain disappears within minutes

A woman in pain attended one of my workshops with a severe four year back pain sustained in a car accident, as with Mary nothing worked to relieve it, but yet within a short EFT treatment the pain vanished.

After treatment the woman remained motionless in disbelief not quite sure what to think, she moved her body about to locate the pain - but couldn't find it. She then sobbed, relieved that the pain she thought she'd always have to live with was now gone. A year on and the pain has never returned.

Food cravings, exercise and public speaking

'I can't stop eating bread!' one client mentions to me, another, 'I can't motivate myself to exercise!' Another, 'I'm afraid of public speaking!'
All were significantly helped with EFT.

EFT in spas

The future of successful growth within spas will be more than offering the usual treatments and modalities like massage and yoga. Frequently more and more spa goers are requesting that their chronic physical problems and ongoing emotional and psychological issues be addressed.

For instance how beneficial would it be for guests to get help to quit smoking whilst on their stay? Or how about really eliminating a chronic pain, sports injury or some corporate stress and also come away with a useful and practical self help tool? Or perhaps resolving a long standing phobia or past trauma? Often permanently too, because EFT gently eliminates the root causes for issues never to return.

Detox Symptoms

Guests don't have to suffer the detox symptoms of cravings, headaches and hunger pangs. Because symptoms are often magnified by psychologically induced energy imbalances they can be significantly relieved using EFT.

Weight Loss

We know it's not just diet and exercise that enables a successfully maintained healthy weight. It's about 'mindful' eating and addressing and resolving the emotional factors that cause people to over-eat, or self-sabotage or lack motivation to exercise. Factors that prevent weight loss, for weight to gain or for it to yo-yo. Factors why most diets fail time and time again and keep people where they are. Over-weight and unhappy.

So, it's absolutely essential that the emotional and psychological reasons behind excess weight be dealt with to attain any sustained long term success. Fortunately EFT can help by working to resolve these factors.

Golf and other sports performance

Most golfers and other sports players would agree that once you know how to play the game the remaining blocks to success are in the mind. Some even say it's not a game against an opponent, but against their own negative thinking, beliefs and limitations. EFT not only deals with the aches and pains associated with sports, but also the anxiety and psychological aspects too.

At its very basic level EFT balances the energies and relieves mental stress and physical tension, boosts the immunity, helps blood pressure, the heart, and benefits all other bodily systems promoting good health. It's an effective internal workout that's easily learned and self-applied.

No, EFT is not a cure all. Nothing can ever realistically be, but with a very high success rate it just might be the nearest thing we have to really helping spa goers quickly and effectively resolve problems. Tap tap.......

Don't Simply Avoid Stress - Master Good Health With Proven Reiki Healing Techniques

Stress is one of the key components linked to disease in our society today. Managing work, home, and family can pile on stress without our noticing of it. This is why so many people are turning to the stress-reducing techniques such as Reiki, a spiritual energy used with healing, meditation, and spiritual growth.

Starting Reiki

When a person experiences Reiki, an initiation known as "Reiki Attunement" begins. This brings the person into a relationship with Reiki energy, and is usually taught by a Reiki master teacher. During a Reiki attunement, a person's dense energy is cleared and released, and etheric and chakras fields are strengthened causing the person to receive and transmit high frequency healing light. As one progresses, he can progress to master Reiki healing and Reiki symbols as well.

Why do we stress?

Stress takes hold of a person when he is fearful, doubtful, or anxious about life events. He often experiences tensed muscles without realizing it. The body's reaction is fatigue, moodiness and disease. Most people think of relaxation as heading home after work and turning on the TV, going to the gym, or stopping whatever was causing them stress in the first place. Relaxation IS NOT simply avoiding stress; it is utilizing healing by employing techniques such as Reiki.

Reiki eliminates the emotional and physical effect of stress by balancing chi and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system to release healing hormones which restores balance to the body, mind, and spirit. One can return to a relaxed, peaceful state daily by practicing and mastering Reiki techniques.

Relaxation approaches

The top approaches of Reiki healing include trained looking, blowing, and light tapping. Reiki massage incorporates palm healing and energy transfer. Reiki symbols (or simbolos), such as fire and Usui, are also used to transfer healing energy. Musica is often used by drumming and introduces Reiki energy to a person's body through the medium of percussion beat. The musica acoustics create a deep, relaxing state and relaxation begins.

The connection between the physical body, spiritual being, and mind is absolute. There is no way to disassociate the effect of the psyche on the body. Stress is a burden of the mind that leaks into the everyday actions of one's entire being in a negative way. Using Reiki techniques to manage and master stress truly leads a person to a relaxed, peaceful life. As balance re-enters your life you will feel confident in your ability to benefit your home, your job, and your community.
