Do You Sweat After You Eat? - Stop Underarm Sweat

Sweating after you eat is a more common condition than most people think. Contrary to popular belief, the most common reason why a person sweats after they eat is not due to some sort of medical disease or condition, but simply due to the certain types of foods they consume. The medical term for this condition is gustatory sweating which means that an individual begins to sweat excessively in the facial area as well as the neck and other parts of his body right after eating certain foods. The major foods that cause this are spicy foods. Spicy foods are known to generate heat in the body when the body reacts with the spicy ingredients. The thing with gustatory Hyperhidrosis is that it happens without the control of the individual as their nervous is over stimulated by the spicy foods.

One syndrome that is not as widely known is called the Frey syndrome. The way in which Frey syndrome is unique is that although it does cause perspiration after eating food, it only leads to sweating on one side on the individual's head. As a result, the salivary gland which is located at the cheek region experiences severe damage. Another main factor about Frey syndrome is that not only does a person sweat after consuming g food, but also sweats by just thinking about food which is one of the reasons why it can be a very daunting and worrisome experience.

Another thing that perspiring after eating can be linked to is diabetes or even that you have a risk of getting diabetes. As a result, an individual's nerves located in the face become unresponsive and begin to sweat excessively after he or she eats any food. The most common situation is when sweat occurs both during or after eating and is most commonly found in the neck or facial region.

Perspiration after consuming food has numerous embarrassing repercussions and many people choose to seek medical attention in an attempt to treat their condition. Your best bet in knowing which treatment to go for is by figuring out what causes your sweating first. It will help a long way in choosing the right treatment to maximize its effectiveness.

The recommended thing to do would be to perform a check up with a medical expert if the condition starts becoming overly excessive or bothersome. They will be able to give you detailed information about your condition as well as guide you on which treatment you should be seeking out.

A Way To Help Your Family Look After You If You Have Dementia

Not many people think about the future. They plan the next holiday, write a shopping list for this week's groceries and wonder they might be going on Saturday night, but they don't really think beyond the next few days. There's nothing wrong with this and it's what most of us do. We're so busy getting on with today and tomorrow that planning years ahead just isn't high on the agenda. The problem is, it suddenly arrives - the future you thought you'd never have to worry about, and it can be an unpleasant shock for all concerned if all is not as rosy and wonderful as you thought it would be.

In my job I come across cases on a regular basis where happy and productive people who had everything going for them find that for some reason they just can't cope anymore. They are diagnosed with an illness such as Alzheimer's or Dementia, often with complications like incontinence, that means they can no longer cope with daily life and decisions in the way they always have. A chain of events then begins that will slowly unravel the life they thought they were going to have. The happy retirement, spending more time with the family, even finishing the career that has been worked on so hard for so long, it is all suddenly impossible as the person loses the ability to think and function for themselves. The person concerned then has to rely on help from family and healthcare workers, which requires time and commitment for all concerned. Ultimately, they person may need to go in to care.

All of this caring, both from family and professionals, needs money. Just doing the shopping for the person hits the family person, let alone thinking about how to cover the costs of residential care. It's something I've seen happen several times and the families are usually caught out in a nasty and ironic way. Money is needed to cope with the condition. The money is there, in the form of savings, the person's house, pension plans and investments, but no one can get at it as the person who is allowed to (the sufferer) is no longer capable of accessing it. So the families are put through the hardship of finding the money themselves, knowing the only time they will ever see the person's own money is if they inherit when the person eventually dies - which could be many years away.

This brings me back to my original point. We really should think about the future. Not just the rosy ideal we all want, but the unpleasant reality that will affect hundreds of thousands of us as we get older. We need to ask "how will my family and loved ones cope if I don't even know who I am anymore". I've recently learned about the solution, but it's a brave one as it means accepting that at some stage in the future you may not be responsible enough to take care of your own affairs. It's called a "Lasting Power of Attorney", and I recommend it anyone who is over 50.

It is a legal document that says, in the event that you are assessed by a doctor as being no longer capable of making your own decisions due to mental illness, someone you've appointed can take over your financial affairs. It is very carefully set up to make sure that the only time it comes in to effect is when you are clearly no longer capable of taking care of your affairs yourself. The critical factor is that when you complete the document, you have to be certified by a professional such as a doctor of solicitor as fully aware of the commitment you are making. In other words, you have not been pressured into the decision by anybody and that at that time you are fully capable of making such a decision.

Making the Lasting Power of Attorney is not a decision to be taken lightly, but if the worst does happen it can make all the difference to those who will be bearing the burden of looking after you. There are of course protections within the law to stop the ones you have given control of your affairs to from just abandoning you and running off with the money. They do have to demonstrate at all times that what they are doing is for your benefit, but it does mean they won't have to re-mortgage their own house and use their own savings to take care of you, and that will mean so much to the people who love you most and will want to take care of you.

Thoughts Of Cigarettes Three Months After Quitting

There is a third-month phenomenon reported by some smokers. Something like three months after your last cigarette, you may be feeling that you are over them, but there is another thought that may creep in. This really horrible thought of "wouldn't it be nice just to have one cigarette" may crop up every now and then. You may have gone through hell and back in those first two weeks, and now you are finally over any withdrawal feelings and finally thought you were safe. And all of a sudden, you may be getting these "wouldn't it be nice" thoughts. It must be so disturbing!

You know deep down inside that you do not actually want a cigarette. But these thoughts keep cropping up. Then there are the justification thoughts that go along with them; thoughts of "well, I have done so well, I deserve a cigarette as a reward". Of course, you will not be tempted to go through all that all over again, but it is so annoying, and threatening, to get these thoughts. You are determined, however, not to give in, and that is the right mindset. No matter what thoughts you get, they are just thoughts. They will soon pass. It is just your mind playing tricks on you. You do not have to act upon them. After all, if you did act upon them, that cigarette would taste disgusting and you would feel very dizzy. But you know that it would be the start of another slippery slope that you have just worked so hard to climb out of. You certainly do not need all that hassle in your life again.

There is another way of looking at this. Whenever you get a thought that calls you towards the cigarettes, you can actively release the emotion behind that thought. Then the thought can go away much faster, and you do not have to wait for it to pass. There is a very easy self-acupressure method that can release that thought, craving, desire, or whatever you want to call it. And this method can do so literally in minutes. It is called Emotional Freedom Techniques, or EFT for short. It does not cost you anything unless you wish to learn it from a practitioner or attend a workshop. You can download simple instructions for this method from many an online source and get using it in the next hour. How you learn it is your preference, but what I am trying to say that it is available, and you do not have to suffer these intrusive thoughts.

Restrictions After Hernia Surgery - 5 Common Restrictions

Going through the pain and inconvenience of a hernia is something that you may only have to experience once in your lifetime - if ever. The good news is that, if you do have a hernia and you receive the proper medical attention, your chances of a recurrence should be very low.

Surgery is by far the most common and trusted method that most physicians recommend for the correction of a hernia. After all, a hernia is a protrusion or "pushing through" of internal body tissue and/or organs (think: intestines) through weak places in the muscle wall. A hernia can come about due to genetic causes or be the result of undue strain placed on the localized area of the body, such as during strenuous lifting, childbirth, or an accident.

Hernia surgery involves your doctor placing a synthetic mesh over the affected area after pushing the protruding tissues back into the body. Once the surgical incisions have healed in a few weeks, the affected muscle should regain its previous strength. As long as proper healing has occurred, the newly-healed muscle wall - along with the synthetic mesh - should be more than strong enough to keep everything properly in place.

If you have undergone hernia surgery or plan to soon, you may have heard about restrictions after hernia surgery. Here are 5 common restrictions after hernia surgery:

1. Avoid lifting anything that weighs over 10 lbs. (or about 4.5 kg):

For the first 2 weeks or so after surgery, you should avoid lifting anything that weights over 10 lbs. (about 4.5 kg). This includes young children! If your home or work life require that you lift items that weigh more than this, be sure to enlist the assistance of a helpful friend, family member, or hired nurse to get you through those first few weeks.

2. Do not hold objects above your head:

You will want to avoid any type of strenuous holding or lifting of items of any weight above your head. Reason: in that position, your abdomen will likely be stretched in ways that could put undue pressure on the affected area of your body. The risk is that you could re-open your incisions or re-injure the herniated part of your body.

3. Avoid running or jogging:

Your healing hernia will be very sensitive to any type of jarring motion, such as that which comes with running or jogging. Avoid this type of jarring physical activity for at least 2-3 weeks - maybe longer.

4. Avoid doing sit-ups:

Immediately following your surgery, just trying to sit up in bed might be a very painful experience for you. It goes without saying, then, that sit-ups should be out of the question.

5. Do not stay in bed all day:

Despite all of these cautionary notes about avoiding any type of strenuous or jarring activities, it is important also that you do not just stay in bed or on the couch all day. Rather, once a day or two have passed after your surgery, make it a point to get up every day and take a little walk around your house. After a week or so, you should start venturing outside. Surprisingly, avoiding this type of light exercise could actually keep your body from healing properly after surgery.

In order to avoid recurrence of your hernia and to promote healing, keep these restrictions in mind for after your hernia surgery.
