Dealing With Unexpected Events Life Often Throws Our Way

Life can be changed in the blink of an eye by unexpected events, never to be the same again. No one knows when a car is suddenly going to run a red light and hit them or if they are going to be mugged at gun point while shopping at their local convenience store. One thing that is certain events such as these can have a lasting impact on the lives of individuals.

Superman - Christopher Reeves

Superman has the power to leap tall buildings with a single bound and was faster than a speeding bullet, but Christopher Reeves, who was the actor who played Superman, did not have these super powers. However, he did posses fame and fortune, but these were still not enough to stop the unexpected event that changed his life forever.

Above all, Christopher loved spending his spare time enjoying the sport he adored the most, equestrian. Suddenly, one of life's unexpected events occurred and in the blink of an eye Christopher's life was changed forever. What seemed like a simple fall from his horse changed Christopher from Superman into a quadriplegic due to the spinal cord injury he suffered from the fall.

Robbed Of Mobility

Your own dreams can be squashed within seconds. A man just out of college gets a promising job with an industrial company. He has his entire future ahead of him and is planning his wedding. One week later, there is a huge industrial accident at his plant, which leaves the young man physically disabled. How does one deal with unexpected events as this?

Oftentimes, those individuals suffering from a severe stroke will also be left with some type of physical disability. Due to these unexpected events these individuals are robbed innocently of their mobility as well as their own independence. They have to endure life relying on the aid of others to assist them in their daily lives. As a result, their whole life has been changed.

Effects Of Mother Nature

Mother Nature can strike without warning at any time. There are times when her power is amazing, but at the same time horrifying. Victims caught in tsunamis, tornadoes, wild fires, earthquakes, or even hurricanes such as Katrina know the power Mother Nature possesses. After a natural disaster, the victims are left having to rebuild what they once had, which is oftentimes their entire lives. However, their lives will never be the same.

Look On The Bright Side

Unexpected Events do not have to always have negative side effect though. There are times when the sun shines through and out of nowhere you pick the winning numbers on the lottery or after years of trying to conceive your spouse tells you she is pregnant.

The saying, "every cloud has a silver lining" has proven to be true so many times. How we deal with the unexpected events in our lives will affect the outcome of such events. Many are able to find strength in adversity. Along with that comes a new source of courage that allows them to live life to the fullest, maybe in a different way, but certainly with a different attitude.

EFT and Fear: How EFT Can Help You Overcome Fear

Fear comes in many colours: phobias, PTSD, fear of a particular person, place or thing. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) can help control your fear or even release it completely.

When someone comes to an EFT practitioner with a phobia, we generally expect the phobia to be released completely in one to three sessions, depending on where the phobia originated. People are often astonished at how quickly their fears disappear, particularly when this has been a debilitating part of their lives for many years. The client is often asked "when did this start?" The answer is usually accompanied by a story about something that happened in which whatever the present day phobia was involved. After a few rounds of EFT, on the original trauma, the client is surprised to find that they are not afraid of whatever it was. In fact, sometimes they can't understand why they were afraid of it in the first place.

PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), on the other hand, is a deeply rooted fear involving flashbacks (in which the sufferer relives the original trauma or traumas) on a daily basis. This can either be one major event or many. Soldiers returning from theatres of war, for example, may relive not just one event but hundreds. The approach taken in this case is to teach the veteran to tap themselves, while also encouraging a course of EFT sessions with a skilled practitioner.

Where there are many events, the effect of tapping on several of them seems to generalise to all the others - as four or five of the events have the emotions released by EFT tapping, many of the others reduce in force, until after a number of them are reduced, quite often this will generalise over all of them. A peer reviewed published study by Dawson Church in the Journal of Traumatology in 2010 indicated that even brief exposure to EFT significantly reduced PTSD symptoms in war veterans.

Where the fear is of a more immediate nature, a skilled EFT practitioner can also help, not just with the present fear but also in preparing for future exposure to the feared object, experience or person. A few rounds of tapping can reduce the present fear to nothing. Then, using the "choices technique" or "ultimate truth" statement, the practitioner can help the client to prepare for any future exposure, reducing fearful anticipation, practicing for any unpleasant statements, smells, textures or sounds and reducing worry about what the next incident will include.

EFT for Procrastination

Twitter, Facebook, emails, texting, having access to hundreds of television channels- we now have more than a million ways to get distracted. Everyone has gone through a stressful situation at one time or another where they've procrastinated. Science is now showing that it's due to a war of the brains when you put things off and not that Mercury was in retrograde.

When we are confronted with an activity that we don't really want to do and put it off, we aren't scoffing responsibility - we are actually hard-wired to respond this way. The limbic system sits in the brain and is the part of us that looks for comfort and safety. It will tell your body to step off burning sand for instance. If you didn't have this early warning system your feet would just blister. Unfortunately we respond in the same way when we're faced with an activity that we deem unpleasant. The limbic system is one of the old parts of the brain that can easily overtake the newer "crowning achievement" of homo sapient - the neocortex. The neocortex is a much newer part of the brain that acts as the decision maker and processor of information.

Here's a typical scenario in the battle of the brains. You tell yourself that you need to prepare to gather your tax information today because you are meeting your accountant later this week (neocortex). You suddenly remember that it's your aunt's birthday today and you sit down to call her (limbic). After the call, you think about getting out your receipts (neocortex) but then start to think about something funny a friend said on Facebook yesterday and you really must respond (limbic). Get the picture?

Here are some tips on procrastination that may be super-charged by using EFT:

1. Do the most difficult task first. The more you put off the inevitable, the more it's going to distract you in many areas and sap your energy. Tapping tip: Look at the task and break it down. Tap on your resistance to doing each small part of it. An example would be, gathering receipts as step one for your taxes. Imagine doing that and create a set-up statement like, "Even though I don't even know where all my receipts are" or "Even though looking at this pile of receipts makes me nauseous".

2. Reset your day at 2pm. When you realize at 2 o'clock that you haven't gotten to the most important task, figure out what needs to change in your day to allow time to get to it. Tapping tip: Releasing the guilt and shame that comes along with not having done your project will get you going again. Guilt and shame will trigger more of the need to run off and do something more pleasant.

3. Set a timer. Engage your sense of challenge and set a timer on your computer, alarm clock, or phone to go off in 10 minutes. Once you've done that, set if for 20 minutes. Tapping tip: Tap on getting the timer or any voice in your head that says "you don't need it"- it's probably another distracting limbic system last ditch effort.

4. Engage the help of a friend or expert. Many of us already have someone in our lives who are more than willing to help us out with a couple of phone calls or a visit to check up on us to see how we are progressing. Tapping tip: Get an EFT practitioner to help you tap on the subconscious associations you might have around taking action in any one area. From building your business to getting rid of clutter, getting those inner cobwebs out of the way makes room for charging ahead and finally making progress.

EFT and Kinesiology-Based Testing - Melinda, Third Session

"Melinda" had been referred to me for overcoming issues based around a previous addiction to Buttons and Dagga (Mandrax and Marijuana, as they are known in Cape Town). She was by now over both the drugs and her abusive ex-boyfriend, who had taken her down that slippery slope to begin with. She proudly announced at the beginning of the session that although he has been making serious efforts to get her back, including several SMS text messages, she now felt nothing for him and was no longer afraid of abusive memories involving him. Melinda also proudly announced that she is making great headway in finding a job and was expecting an answer in the next few days.

We started the session with any job fears that she may have. There was a job with a low income she was pretty sure she would get if the conditions were right. She had no fears about it. The other job she was applying for, however, was better paid and involved more formal application processes. This gave Melinda a fear of 2-3 out of ten. She clearly had been doing her tapping at home! Anyway, we tapped for all aspects of this job application, including "Even though I'm nervous; what will they think about me?..." and "Even though it's more money..." and got it down to zero.

Next, we tapped for feelings about Melinda needing to get a job in order to move back in with her mother - a condition imposed by her step-father to prove that she has indeed changed. And we went on from there to do kinesiology-based muscle-testing. Melinda tested relevant for a couple of family members. We cleared one with tapping, but the other was still producing a weak muscle test, which meant that Melinda still had a problem there. So I then tested for various aspects of her relationship with this person. The following came up as relevant: Shame, rejection, disillusionment, disappointment, confusion, panic, betrayal, and sadness. Melinda also tested relevant for the hypothalamus, and in particular, in relation to this family member and Melinda's sleep challenges. We tapped on all of the above, using statements like ?Even though I have this shame to do with [this person], I deeply love and accept myself". There were some tears, but they soon passed, and Melinda was calm again. We re-tested afterwards, and Melinda's arm was strong, meaning she had released the main blocks to do with this person.

I gave Melinda a general tapping to do if needed, plus a hypothalamus tapping to do every night for six weeks. The statement for this went something like "I allow healing to my hypothalamus, I deeply love and accept myself".

At the end of this session, we were both delighted with the results so far and agreed to conclude our sessions there. I am truly grateful to Melinda for letting me share her story so that others can benefit.

A Review Of The Nick Ortner Presentation At The Tapping World Summit

Nick Ortner has been using EFT for the past 7 years or so, and primarily for achieving what he wants to achieve in his life. Well, Nick Ortner is surely a testament to how EFT facilitates success. He started by explaining how he made his first EFT film documentary and wow, what he had in the way was what most would have found insurmountable. He did not use an experienced film-maker, he borrowed money from family and credit cards, and just did what he did and succeeded.

Nick gives the example of a woman who changed her energy with EFT before going to a job interview, felt really positive and got the job. He reminds us that the happier and calmer we are, the more success we are likely to have. I love the way he does not go on about vibrational this that and the other. He explains very clearly, without the silly wishy-washy words that abound around the Law of Attraction, how when we have negative emotions in the way, we can easily release them, having focused on them just for a few minutes, releasing them with ease by tapping. I also like how his presentation does not focus only on financial goals but includes relationship and other goals.

Nick advises how to structure our goals. He advises writing down a goal and de-constructing it, to be totally congruent with it. When we break down our goal into a series of mini-goals, we will find that we are not congruent with some of those. This is what we need to tap on in order to succeed. He suggests that we do not walk away from tapping on any emotional block in our path until it is a 3 out of 10 or less. He also suggests that we do not share our goal with people that we know will be negative about it, at least in the initial stages.

One issue that comes up for many people wanting to make their goals come true is lack of funds. He argues the case that to make his film, he borrowed money from family and credit cards, but to be honest, although I know personally that you can get started from scratch, I cannot imagine making that film without the family members who were able to lend him the money. If he was born to a very poor family who was all poor, it would have been different. However, most people listening to this presentation are not in the latter situation, and I found his suggestions very inspiring.

Nick explains that your income is the average of your five best friends, and that this goes across the board with goals, including love and relationships. I found that very profound and true. It was actually a huge shock to realize. It is rare that I come across a piece of information that I had not encountered before, and this is one that I know I have to use in my own personal and professional growth. I will be tapping on it, getting insights, and going more in the direction I should be.

EFT and Pain: How EFT Can Help You With Pain Control and Pain Relief

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is fabulous for pain relief and pain control. After handing out chocolate and tapping down the desire for it, many EFT practitioners will ask for someone to help demonstrate pain relief with tapping. Generally the volunteer will complain of a headache or muscle ache - something acute (ie they just got it that day) rather than chronic - and the entire room will be astonished to watch as the Subjective Units of Discomfort Scale (SUDS) reduces to zero with a couple of rounds of EFT.

The SUDS scale is a measuring scale of zero to ten in which zero is no discomfort at all and 10 is the most it could possibly be. When we use the word "discomfort" in this context we can also mean pain, distress or emotional discomfort.

In a longer demonstration - you can find several on a search of the web, by clicking on my website link, or on YouTube - an EFT practitioner may demonstrate with someone who has chronic pain, which usually takes a little longer than a few minutes. As a practitioner there are few things more satisfying than watching the dawning wonder on someone's face as their chronic pain subsides with the application of EFT, after months or even years of agony. But don't take my word for it.

Published research by Dawson Church (Author and Publisher) and Audrey Brooks (Department of Psychology, Arizona University, Tucson Arizona) in the Journal of Integrative Medicine indicates that EFT not only works at the time of the tapping but also lasts: as part of their research Church and Brooks followed up three months after the initial tapping, discovering that the pain relief persisted, particularly when people had continued to use EFT after their initial exposure to it.

As a practitioner, I have seen the effects of EFT on both chronic and acute pain, with clients who have literally tried everything else to no avail. Tapping often works when nothing else can.

One of the many advantages with EFT is that it is a very effective self help tool. Many people come to tapping through downloading a free guide like the one on my website, seeing a video on YouTube or even having a friend show them how to do it - which is how I came to tapping before becoming a practitioner.

EFT is surprisingly speedy and effective for both pain control and pain relief.

Accentuate The Positive And Say Farewell To Negative Thoughts And Feelings

Have you been busted lately? Feeling so annoyed and incompetent? Nowadays, there are only a few things that juggle in men's lives. These are career, love life, relationships, and individuality. It is a proven fact that any unbalance or even disturbance of any of these areas would lead to confusion.

Having been busted, annoyed and incompetent is pretty normal; in fact, it is inevitable to have been drifted into this kind of mischievous emotions once in a while. There might be no apparent cause or probable reasons one may think as of the moment, but in a long run, when one tries to examine oneself and ambitions, it is a sure hit that a person can see some of the causes why it happens.

In today's fast changing world, it is not anymore common to us that any uncertainty would lead to a predicament result. How can we fight the battles without being injured? This may be a million dollar question. Unfortunately, the answer might be vaguely- Impossible. However, there are some proven facts that would enlighten our minds if ever we feel some of the odious changes around us. That is - Prioritization.

Prioritization is very vital especially in the world where snap changes happen. Here are some of the basic reminders one must consider to jolt back the normal "us" when we try to juggle so many balls in the air.

1. Relationships. Most of the time, this area has been greatly affected because of the queasy times most of us spend in a busy office. We certainly forget that we need to give quality time to our loved ones without having been hooked with tremendous workloads. The notion to compartmentalize all the ideas behind when one is at home is of great advantage to keep any relationship intact. More so, we can also solidify a relationship among our loved ones when we know how to value quality time above all else.

2. Career. If one is into business, it is of great importance to welcome technology and innovation. In an instance, owner of huge call centers often have the latest transcription foot pedal and digital dictation to lift their names in the corporate ladder. With its great advantages, more clients and customers have been given excellent services. When one knows how to prioritize this aspect. The goal to increase revenues and income would be feasible.

3. Love life. According to the bible, "If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing" (1 Corinthians 13:3). Yes! It is true that despite of our goals and ambitions, we need to satisfy our thirst and hunger for love. This is a touchstone so we can perfectly say we are humans. Giving love and having been reciprocated in return is a sure way to make us feel important.

4. Individuality. This is very important. No matter how successful we are in our career, if we can't love, forgive and accept ourselves, we can never be happy. The only way to keep ourselves intact is to acknowledge that we have unique purposes why we are here. We need a personal communion with ourselves so we can fully subsidize the most of what we have to the fullest.

Although it is queasy to realize all these in a snap, but with a little enlightenment and push, we can genuinely feel the atmosphere of positivism when we learn to realize and accept changes around us.

Let us try to set our priority straight and balance all the core elements of our lives. From that point, we can accentuate positivism and right attitude to eliminate negative feelings.

EFT and Difficult Neighbours: How EFT Can Help You Deal With Difficult Neighbours

Sometimes, unfortunately, neighbours can be difficult. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) can help.

When we have difficult neighbours, it can affect every area of our lives, interfering with sleep, with our normal day to day living and even can overflow into work. When we use EFT tapping to help with difficult neighbours, first we address the stress and tension, both the chronic stress if it's been going on for a long time, and the acute stress of yet another incident.

When doing EFT tapping for any stressful situation, we first address how we are feeling right now on a scale of 0-10 with 0 being not stressed at all and 10 being as stressed as we could possibly be. People are often amazed at how quickly stress can be released with a couple of rounds of tapping.

Unfortunately, having difficult neighbours is not just stressful: it's frustrating, can often be a terrible worry and we can sometimes feel really angry and powerless, as if they have all the power and we have none. They don't keep to the normal rules and seem to take advantage of the fact that we do and wouldn't behave badly towards someone else, no matter how tempted.

Wouldn't it feel so good to take your power back, feel in control of your emotions and find positive solutions to what feels right now like an insurmountable problem?

One of the many benefits of EFT is that it can be used freely as a self help tool, to help you be in control of your emotions, rather than other people. EFT can be used for day to day issues to help you sail through life. However, to help clear out the major issues and the big problems, it's often positive to get the help of a skilled practitioner. A practitioner is not part of the situation, so is not emotionally involved and can therefore help you to arrive at a balanced, peaceful place quickly, without becoming stuck.

Having dealt with the current emotions, EFT can help clear out the old emotions, still present from previous acute phases of difficult neighbour behaviour. When neighbours are difficult, there is often a pattern to it, resulting in "armed truce", followed by acute irritation, following which the cycle begins again. Resentment from their old behaviour can ruin even the less difficult times. Anxiety and being constantly alert for the next incident can be exhausting. EFT tapping, with the help of a practitioner when appropriate, can really help you return to a relaxed peaceful state in which you can think clearly and coherently.

In addition, EFT on the "what ifs" can also help to reduce general anxiety, live in the present moment and prepare for if there is another incident.

In this way EFT tapping can help you deal with difficult neighbours, release stress about them and generally reduce the likelihood of feeling powerless in the future.

A Review Of The Margaret Lynch Presentation At The Tapping World Summit

Jessica Ortner (host of the series) starts with the introduction that great financial successes like Donald Trump have made their money in hard financial times. She points out that even bankruptcy and hard times are not a block to financial success. Margaret Lynch takes this further by explaining that our own emotions are the block to financial success, and by tapping on our emotional blocks, we change what is on the inside of us, which then changes what happens on the outside of us.

Margaret focuses on money and shares that she has found there are four kinds of money. These are:

Wow! As soon as I heard this, I found my trigger: Savings. That really triggered me. I have attended many of these presentations and benefited wonderfully from some of them, and I expected to have heard it all already. So this is where I have to tap in order to move further in my life. I need to tap on savings. As you look at the list above, which item triggers you? That is what needs to be tapped on.

Margaret points out that debt really affects us at every level. She quotes Kevin Trudeau, a Law of Attraction leader, as saying that debt can really create a negative impact on our money attraction. Margaret says that when we tap on debt, we feel differently about it and pay it off earlier than otherwise expected, without really being bothered about it. Margaret quite rightly says that debt can be a trauma in our life. After all, debt is related to divorce and many other unfortunate life events. Margaret then explains the difference between good debt, such as a mortgage, and bad debt, which is an unnecessary debt that gets us down. She explains that bad debt often involves shame, embarrassment, sadness, and other very negative thoughts. These are unhelpful from the Law of Attraction viewpoint. By tapping on these debt emotions, we release these negative emotions and attract positivity. Setups about debt included "Even though I have this story about my debt... I totally honor my feelings about it... I'd love to let some of that go."

After tapping on the negative, Margaret asks us to remember our positive intention. For example, tapping on our intention of repaying the debt. This is a much more positive energy to send out to the Universe, and this helps us attract more positivity. She suggests that we set our intention to be a better money manager. Setups include things like "I'm just going to be open to the idea that I'm going to pay this debt quickly and easily." Reminders include "I love actually managing money like a millionaire", "I'm saying yes to earning more", and "There's millions of ways I can pay off this debt". In the tapping, we admit that we are not that great money manager today, but we are open to the positive changes.

Margaret reminds us that even though money changes take time, we can be energetically open to this change now. She recommends that we are disciplined about our tapping and tap daily and regularly for as long as is needed in order to move forward to our financial goals. I really like the daily tapping idea. So many tappers expect an instant solution in one session. However, with an ongoing issue that develops day by day and month by month, we need to tap regularly. This can be just a minute at a time. I am a big fan on regular tapping, as I was a Reiki healer first, and this involves self-healing daily, even if for just 5 minutes. I really think this applies to EFT as well. Try regular tapping daily about your finances, and see how you feel. What emotional aspects come up at each different daily tapping can be very different, and Margaret suggests tapping on whatever comes up and not leaving it till later. She also points out that with finances, your own inner critic can be a big factor, and opening this up can really help us move forward.

Although Margaret uses my pet yuck word of "vibration", which normally sends me off into distraction, she explains everything so clearly and logically that my logical scientific mind simply lapped up this presentation. I will certainly be using it to break through my barriers about my newly-discovered money block. The Tapping World Summit is a yearly event found at www.tappingworldsummit.com. If you are new to EFT, you can download a free guide from many online resources and get started, or you can engage the services of an EFT practitioner or attend a workshop near you. Budget need not be a limitation to you using and applying EFT for your financial well-being.

Deities Rituals, Muhurta And Pilgrimage

The ideas and forms; especially those of deities appear to be created by individuals; but if we go deeper, then realize that right from the conception, gestation, birth and growth and development are nothing is a function of that individual as such. In fact, even the genetic constitution and the heredity of that individual is NOT determined, decided and developed by that individual.

The case in point is that of ideas such as three hundred and thirty million deities in Hindu Dharma!

Such ideas and their forms; is not a matter of ridicule and laugh.

The emergence of three hundred and thirty million deities; is through the recognition; by the seers of the past; of the interrelationship between the time, space, cosmos, solar system, peculiarities of different celestial phenomena, their effects on life, circadian rhythms, consciousness; and the ultimate culmination of life into superliving i.e. self realization. This insight of the seers; also forms the basis of auspicious times, days (MUHURTA), horoscopes, different rituals, different rituals involved in acculturation (SANSKARA), and different ways of worshipping different deities for their characteristic blessing (e.g. enlightenment and wisdom from Ganapati and Saraswati ) for blossoming into superliving.

As per the perception of the seers; the individual human existence is but a miniscule of the universe or cosmos (including the cosmic consciousness, time space etc), the deities are cosmic entities with specific predilection or correspondence and/or subtle relationship with specific loci in human existence. The human beings are near perfect replication and representation of the cosmic being; the PURUSHA with all His attributes manifested as PRAKRUTI. Hence worshipping deities is actually rectifying, healing and empowering the corresponding loci in an individual human existence through the blessings of these deities; for superliving or self realization in globally benevolent manner.

Strangely though; several Hindu scholars; by virtue of their superficial study; (or because of being in an enlightened state where nothing can influence them) have criticized the some aspects of Hindu way of life and the rituals as such.

It has to be noted that Hindu way of life; is logical and step by step process of evolution towards superliving (individual and global blossoming). Hence even though a self realized soul may not need and/or appreciate the importance these rituals and traditions and may therefore criticize them; the vital role of Hindu rituals in human civilization can not be denied.

This is why; even as Hindu philosophy talks about the immortality of soul; still it prescribes the SANSKARA, rituals, traditions, customs, conventions, different worships, different auspicious days, times and so on; so that a child grows, develops and evolves to the state of self realization, which is being one with the immortal cosmic soul; i.e. superliving; benevolent to universe.

Hence irrespective of the names and titles; the practice of worshipping the deities; and following the rituals conducive to superliving; would soon be globalized, popular, sought after and practiced in every nook and corner of the world; for holistic welfare of the world!

It is true that the legacy of the ancient seers has been destroyed, distorted, adulterated and vitiated in many ways due to several reasons; including brutal bloody invasions, carnages and genocides by the barbaric fanatics. Hence study and scrutiny of the legacy is certainly required; but by honest and enlightened souls. Because, if we are trained in mere rote, mechanistic, reductionist and lopsided logical thinking and learning; without evolving internally; (whether it is westernized mainstream education or a traditional education as e.g. is imparted in gurukul); then we fail to appreciate the interrelationship between the time, space, cosmos, solar system, peculiarities of different celestial phenomena, their effects on life, circadian rhythms, and the ultimate culmination of life into superliving i.e. self realization and the importance of the phenomena such as; nyasa, vyahruti, achaman, pranayama, deities and pilgrimage.

Due to our crudeness; we hate, ridicule, humiliate or at best tolerate or consider the existence of these phenomena; sympathetically. Sometimes by virtue of our reading of literature with egalitarian socio-economic materialistic perspective; we offer shallow explanations for the existence and growth of these phenomena. In both cases we knowingly or unknowingly ignore, neglect and trivialize and/or vulgarize them and/or undermine their sublime and pivotal role in the holistic blossoming of individuals and human civilization.

Our seers in the past after having gone to the core of the interrelationship between the time, space, cosmos, solar system, peculiarities of different celestial phenomena, their effects on life, circadian rhythms, and the ultimate culmination of life into superliving i.e. self realization evolved concepts such as nyasa, vyahruti, achaman, pranayama, deities and pilgrimage. They probably clearly recognized that the places of pilgrimage are the conduits to self realization, wherefrom we collect the vitality and vigor to ascend to our true SELF.

EFT and Insomnia: How EFT Tapping Can Help You Get a Good Night's Sleep

When you're lying sleepless in your bed at night, do you dream of a weekend away at a spa so you can relax enough to sleep peacefully for eight to ten hours at a stretch? Unfortunately, most of us don't have the time or money to go off to a spa every weekend. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) can help.

EFT tapping is a meridian tapping system that can help with insomnia and the factors contributing to it, like anxiety, stress, pain or anger.

Meridian tapping system? Huh?

In ancient China practitioners discovered places in the body where, when a needle or pressure was applied, this tended to help people with various ailments. EFT tapping uses these same places on the face and upper body while "tuning in" to the problem to help release tension, trauma, anxiety, worry and even the causes of sleeplessness.

If you think meridians are just a figment of some very odd people's imaginations, consider this: the British National Health Service (NHS) is now offering acupuncture for certain conditions, like back ache. The NHS doesn't offer treatments that they know don't work.

In addition, research has shown that places on the skin where the ancient Chinese mapped the meridian points show electrical conductivity that is different to other places on the skin.

While tapping on these meridian points on the face and upper body, at the same time thinking about not being able to sleep, or about the anxiety that is keeping you awake, your system releases everything that gets in the way of you relaxing enough to fall into a deep, peaceful sleep.

Most practitioners have anecdotal evidence that it often takes no more than a few minutes of tapping to relax enough to overcome insomnia. Too good to be true? Not really. Most people have the odd sleepless night through worry about something going on at work, money issues or relationship problems. A couple of rounds of EFT can calm those enough to ensure relaxation.

However, some people are real insomniacs, which is a chronic condition of not being physically able to sleep no matter how much you want to. With the help of a skilled practitioner asking intelligent questions, people will often remember their insomnia started about the time of a specific event or series of events at a significant point in their lives. The remaining emotion from those events can be addressed with EFT, bringing about restful sleep for the first time in many years.

EFT Heals Childhood Abuse

Childhood abuse manifests in a number of ways, and can be categorized into three areas: physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional (psychological) abuse.

Childhood Sexual Abuse

Among many other things, adults who abuse children sexually often project adult characteristics onto children, that is, they overlay the actual children with a fantasy that children are flirting with them just as an adult would, for instance. These abusive adults also create an imagination in their minds that children need to be "taught" about sex through being abused. This all creates, in their minds, justification for sexual abuse.

Childhood Physical Abuse

Just as with sexual abuse, adults who physically abuse children also come up with any number of "reasons" to justify their actions. For instance, they may believe that children are intrinsically bad and need to be punished to learn to be good. They may have had painful or deprived childhoods themselves and become jealous and angry when their children receive normal and appropriate care-and they may take their jealousy out on their children.

Childhood Emotional Abuse

Again, in the minds of adults who emotionally abuse children, there are many justifications and many ways that abuse manifests. For example, constant teasing, putting children down, criticizing them for not being able to do what no child could do, shaming them, telling them that what they're perceiving is not true or not real when it actually is.

Long-term Harm

Any of these kinds of childhood abuse usually has long-term effects and the emotional pain from abuse lasts far into adulthood, affecting how people view themselves and how they interact in relationships, and creating obstacles in their ability to succeed in the world of work.

EFT Helps Heal the Effects of Childhood Abuse

As a psychotherapist and EFT practitioner, I've seen again and again how, when we get to the core issues around people's self-esteem problems, relationship problems and employment problems, childhood issues are at the root. For example, one man who could not commit in relationships was given the message as a child that his needs were too much. As a baby, he was left alone in his crib for hours even though he cried. He learned to withdraw into himself and not to trust those closest to him. A woman who was molested as a child and whose family told her it was "no big deal" and that her emotional pain was silly learned to doubt what she knew and to believe that she was confused when she actually wasn't confused. These examples go on and on.

What's really great is that I've also seen many people get relief from the emotional trauma caused by childhood abuse. EFT Tapping has been very effective in transforming a life of pain into relief and ease with themselves, with their partners and in their work environment.

An Inside Look at Emotional Freedom Technique

Gary Craig describes Emotional Freedom Technique as "A universal healing aid." I had the pleasure of meeting him at a lecture in Boulder, Colorado the summer of 2009.

Let's start with Craig's background.

"I was born April 13, 1940 and have been intensely interested in personal improvement via psychology since age 13. That was when I recognized that the quality of my thoughts was mirrored in the quality of my life. Since then I have been self taught in this field, seeking only those procedures that, in my opinion, produced results. EFT is my latest finding, the core of which I learned from Dr. Roger Callahan. For the average person, Callaghan's stuff was too complex."

Since Craig was educated at Stanford University as an engineer-and what engineers do is take things apart, see how they work, and try to make them work more efficiently-that is what he did with Callaghan's work, which is how EFT was born. Craig is also is an ordained minister and a certified Master Practitioner of NLP.

What exactly is EFT? According to Craig, "EFT is based on a new discovery about the body's subtle energies. Simply stated, it is an emotional version of acupuncture, except needles aren't necessary. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridians on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere. People who are persistent and tap frequently obtain dramatic results."

Craig went on to say, "We are conditioned in the U.S. to take a pill or have surgery to take care of problems. If we were raised in China, we would be more conditioned to working with the energy meridians and chakras. It's all in how we were conditioned. It doesn't have anything to do with the 'woo-woo factor'-it's just how it is in comparison to something else."

Craig added, "Humor is very important." It is therapeutic in and of itself. Humor helps you test how the work is going so far. Craig uses humor because that's his style. However, you don't have to have a sense of humor to do EFT.

EFT can be applied to many issues. During his Boulder seminar, Craig spoke about some different situations where he used EFT. He talked about Becky, a lady deathly afraid of rats. Even the thought of a rat anywhere in the vicinity made her hyperventilate. Craig sent a person out to find a rat and put it in a cage. After a short session of EFT, she was able to put her finger in the cage and pet the rat. Then there was David who had a strong fear of water. After some "tapping" (another name for EFT), David was not afraid of water.

"I didn't 'get' the connection between the emotional self and the physical self until I worked on people with major physical issues," Craig said specifically mentioning MS. He showed a number of videos and one highlighted a lady who suffered from MS, walked on crutches and was severally disabled. Craig worked with her using EFT. By the end of the session, the lady was able to walk without the crutches, and she did a few jumping jacks, something she hadn't been able to do for years.

Probably the most memorable videos were ones taken of military veterans who suffered Traumatic Stress Disorder (TSD). At his own expense, Craig brought these vets together so he could work on them using EFT. Their symptoms ran from depression, suicidal thoughts, hyper-vigilance to night terrors. In order to relieve the intense emotions he felt while working on these men, Craig did some tapping on himself. It was a very emotionally stirring experience for everyone at the presentation. Each of the men Craig worked with showed remarkable improvement.

Emotional Freedom Technique - A Core Tool in Rapid Enlightenment

Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT is a form of psychological acupressure which uses tapping of the fingertips on specific areas of the body to relieve the emotional trauma of past events, addictions, pain, etc - as well, EFT is used as a powerful addition to positive affirmations. Learning EFT takes less than a minute and its contribution to mental health and happiness is nothing less than astonishing. You need not take anyone's word for it. In minutes you can learn and see for yourself if EFT really works. If you love yourself, or want to, EFT is for you!

Authors note: The main, companion article to "Emotional Freedom Technique - A core tool in Rapid Enlightenment," is "Rapid Enlightenment - A rapid guide to lifelong happiness" which is the core article introducing the simple and powerful, three step process of Rapid Enlightenment (To Recognize, Remove, and Relearn) your way to lifelong happiness. EFT is just one of the three essential components to the practice of Rapid Enlightenment.

There are many online examples of techniques and uses for EFT and further exploration is highly recommended. Included below is a simple introduction and hypothetical example of EFT in action. From this example you can use your own mind and creativity to substitute any negative feeling, memory, belief or situation that has been interfering with your happiness. So here we go...

Janet is afraid of dogs and has been since the day she was badly bitten by a neighborhood dog when she was seven. Since that day this long standing memory has caused many panic attacks when she is around, or even thinks about dogs. She often goes blocks out of her way to avoid dogs and social situations where dogs might be present. She has behaved like this for the last twenty-five years.

Janet will use EFT on the long standing memory of being bitten by the neighbor's dog. The idea is to attack the source of the suffering, in this case, the initial traumatizing event. By doing so, all of the emotions that sprang from this past event will also be affected - similar to destroying a tree by cutting out the root, rather than cutting off the tree's branches.

Using all of the senses of her mind, Janet recalls the traumatizing event. In her mind she becomes that little girl - seeing and feeling everything that little girl felt. Instantly she becomes ill at ease. She takes an emotional severity rating of the memory, of how much the memory makes her suffer. She rates it a ten. The most severe it could be. Nevertheless, she is in a safe place and knows she is only recalling the memory and it is not actually happening.

With the memory in full bloom, she begins tapping with her fingertips on the specific nerve centers listed below. The following is an example order of tapping but it can be in any order that feels most comfortable.

TAP ON ALL OF THESE KEY NERVE CENTERS (FINGER TAP THREE OR FOUR TIMES ON EACH NERVE CENTER BEFORE MOVING TO THE NEXT NERVE CENTRE):

> Tap the forehead (the center of your forehead)
> Tap the right temple (right in front of your ear about half way down)
> Tap the right cheek (high on the cheek)
> Tap the chin
> Tap the chest (the chest bone, where your heart would be underneath)
> Tap the front of your left wrist (where you check your pulse, where the hand ends and arm begins)
> Tap the back of your left wrist (where the hand ends and arm begins)
> Tap the left temple (right in front of your ear about half way down)
> Tap the left cheek (high on the cheek)
> Tap the back of your right wrist (where you would check pulse, where the hand ends and arm begins)
> Tap the front of your right wrist (where the hand ends and arm begins)
> Repeat this sequence (for as long as you like)

Janet taps this sequence again and again for a little under a minute. Although very frightened she allows her mind to let go of its formidable resistance to recalling this painful memory. She stops and takes a few calming breaths and takes an emotional severity rating of the memory. She is shocked. The emotional impact has indeed been diminished. Minutes earlier she had rated the memories severity as a ten. She would have given it a twelve if she was able. It was so powerful and frightening she could barely stand it. But now as she gages the emotional severity level, she would rate it as an eight. The memory still made her anxious, very anxious, but it had lost a noticeable amount of bite (bad pun intended).

After a few calming breaths, Janet continues the sequence of tapping. This time for about a minute. She stops and takes another emotional severity rating. It's a six. She almost feels like she is experiencing a miracle. So long has she suffered from this memory and everything it had put her through. As Janet begins tapping again she allows herself to recall the entire timeline, every second, of the event.

JANET RELIVES EVERY SECOND OF THE EVENT TIMELINE

It started when she noticed the neighbor's large brown dog walking unattended across the street. She remembers thinking, "he's going to get lost." Then the dog stops, as if sensing her presence. Seconds later the dog is charging towards her. She looks around for an adult, for someone, and sees no one. Deeply frightened she hopes the dog is just being friendly. Time slows down. The dog snarling and leaping. The pain as sharp canine teeth bite deeply into upraised arm...

While tapping, Janet goes over the event timeline again and again. She continues for several minutes. When she stops and takes an emotional severity rating. It's a three. It hardly feels like anything at all. The goal of EFT is to get the emotional severity rating to one. Where there is no emotional or physiological feeling at all.

JANET INTRODUCES POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS INTO HER EFT

As Janet resumes tapping and reliving the memory she confidently repeats out loud, "It's okay to experience this memory. This memory is in the past and cannot hurt me. I am safe." While tapping she repeats this affirmation again and again (you can use any kind of affirmation you like). When she stops and takes an emotional severity rating, it is a one. The worst memory of her life - the event that had controlled her for decades - feels as calming as a walk in the park (which she can now finally do).

End of exercise.

What has happened? What did this Emotional Freedom Technique application do for Janet?

Old Belief / Understanding / Behavior: (Before EFT): Janet knows she is deathly afraid of dogs. She often has gone blocks out of her way to avoid dogs and social situations where dogs might be present. She knows her behavior is irrational but also feels hopeless against the overwhelming panic that rages throughout her at the mere mention or thought of dogs.

New Belief / Understanding / Behavior: (After EFT): The change in Janet's beliefs and behaviors around dogs is nothing less than extraordinary. She no longer avoids situations where dogs are present and as she continued to use EFT on all the memories, fears and panic attacks, things just kept getting better. Today she sums up her past traumatic event as the result of careless dog-owners and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Today she owns a Jack Terrier named "Moose" and they are both very happy.

PRACTICING EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE ON PAINFUL EMOTIONS

While tapping it is important to re-experience the negative feeling, memory, belief or situation in as much vivid detail as possible. This means to include your entire mind's senses (the sights, sounds, smells, touch and feelings) in the re-experiencing of the emotion. Imagine the absolute worst the negative feeling, memory, belief or situation makes you feel. Allow all the dark thoughts and fears that stem from the emotion to come forth.

Negative feelings, memories, beliefs or situations that are painful to re-experience or think about are often difficult to tap for the simple reason that the mind doesn't want to "go there!" "Too much pain, no way!" But it is especially important, when we feel these objections that we must "go there." Such memories and feelings are the gold mine of stressors and are meant to be mined deeply for our own mental health and happiness. Traditional therapy can take months, even years, as the therapist spends the lion's share of time getting the client to feel secure and brave enough to "go there" (to go within, where the deep wounds reside). With EFT we can be confident when facing trauma knowing that catharsis is only minutes away.

In tapping on traumatic and negative feelings, memories, beliefs or situations, never forget that the event is not actually happening. You are re-creating it only in your mind. As such, it cannot hurt you, despite the convincing impression that it can. You are in a safe environment. If you do not feel safe right now, go someplace where you feel safe before proceeding.

Very traumatic feelings, memories, beliefs and situations influence our thinking and behavior significantly - and, very rarely, in a positive way. They control how we perceive situations and therefore how we act and react. Without suffering and fear influencing our decision-making we are more able to, objectively and consciously, deal with the negative feeling, memory, belief or situation. We will see with the clarity of an informed observer rather than as a frightened participant. If you take this leap of faith now, you will see, within seconds or minutes that you need not fear or suffer from the negative feeling, memory, belief or situation. It will no longer control you but you will feel in control of it.

How would you be without your fears? Without those emotions that feel so real but serve only to leave you in the many states of suffering? Eliminate suffering and fear and you eliminate the corrupted thinking that is blocking your happiness.

SOME IMPORTANT CLARIFICATIONS WHEN PRACTICING EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE

There are two important clarifications regarding tapping. The first is to always remain attentive (self-aware) to tapping only negative feelings, memories, beliefs or situations. The mind has a habit of jumping from thought to thought quickly. Often our minds can jump from a negative state of suffering to a positive state of happiness without warning. When you observe this happening, stop tapping immediately! Take a few calming breaths and generally distract yourself before proceeding. For obvious reasons you do not want to tap towards the diminishing or removal of positive, emotional states.

Positive feelings, memories, beliefs or situations are those emotions that you know do not cause yourself or others to suffer. Every other kind of emotion can be considered, "ready to go!"

The second important clarification is to again remain attentive (self-aware) and to recognize the difference between a reasonable belief of danger and an unreasonable belief of danger. Tapping away our fear of any feeling, memory, belief or situation may leave your rational instincts more capable of judging the situation but it does not mean real danger no longer exists. To a large degree we are taking conscious control of your fight or flight instincts. Take this responsibility very seriously!

For example, tapping combined with misguided pride may keep you from handing your wallet or purse over to an armed thug, but by resisting you may increase the odds of the thug harming you. Your first priority is to protect your body at all costs. Having no fear combined with misguided pride or negligent thinking may jeopardize your body. But having sensible fear and sensible instincts means you exit the situation safely first, followed by the appropriate actions. In any situation, ALWAYS be aware of what you are doing! Do not get lazy, arrogant or overconfident!

Rapid Enlightenment can be used in many, many areas pertaining to mental and physical health, happiness, love and purpose. Peace and Love.

Emotional Freedom Technique - Tapping - How Does It Work?

EFT or Tapping as it is more commonly known, is used to help us to eliminate negative beliefs about our selves and our lives. We have many deep beliefs hidden away in our subconscious mind and they can sabotage all of our efforts! So, Tapping is used to uncover these hidden beliefs for us to be free of pain and negativity.

How Does It Actually Work?

We are energy, and if we have a damaging belief somewhere in our psyche, it will form a block within our energy system. By tapping along meridian points on the body we are able to clear the block and balance our energy so bringing our whole being back into harmony! Much like Acupuncture!

I could go on and tell you how un-dealt with blocks not only wreck our efforts they actually evolve into dis-ease! But we will save that for another day, you don't need to know this, right now you just need to know that this works and will help you to achieve whatever you want to!

What Are These Damaging Beliefs?

Imagine if when you were a child you were bitten by a dog because you ran up behind it or something, you would obviously have been frightened, but you learned to be wary of how to approach dog's right? You learnt the lesson and you know what or what not to do, but still as an adult you may have a fear of dog's. This is an irrational fear! It is your sub-conscious mind protecting you because it still has the memory in its bank! This is a negative pattern, we do not need the memory or the pattern anymore, we are adults and we know not to approach the dog in the wrong way! This old memory can affect our life in a negative way.

More Serious!

Now if we have a more serious memory, it can ruin our life completely even though we know we have learnt the lesson, maybe something has developed a serious phobia for us, like being in the company of others? It is irrational thinking but it ruins lives!

This is where tapping gets amazing, to see someone break free of these fears and blocks is truly wonderful!

We All Have Some Negative Stuff!

The negative stuff just belongs to a set of beliefs that no longer serve us, they just hold us back from creating the life that we want to live.

We can just Tap these old beliefs away and be free! Can you imagine just being able to Tap away that annoying fear, or the nervous tremble in your voice when you need to speak confidently? It is truly powerful stuff!

A Belief Is Just A Thought!

If I was to tell you that I live in a tent, you would accept and believe that, but then if I was to tell you that I was joking, I live in a mansion really, you would accept that too. See how easy it is to change the thought? Our mind receives information, accepts it and stores it, but it is that - easy to change.

Emotion.

This is the difference, when there is the emotion of physical pain attached to the information this is when the serious problems arise. When emotion is attached to the belief or the thought, it can become life destroying!

Tapping uncovers all of our beliefs thoughts and emotions so that we are able to re-program our-self for success!

Tapping Balances The Nervous System.

While Tapping we say the belief out loud and this will bring up any corresponding emotion in the nervous system. Then we tap the various pressure points to reset the system. Each point is the end of a nerve channel in the body. Tapping sends a shockwave down that channel removing any blockages.

We cannot know which nerve channel is holding a particular emotion, so we just Tap them all.

When the negative emotion is gone, our mind is no longer attached to the belief. So now our mind can re-program. We let go of that which we don't need.

Getting to the Core Issue With EFT: Anger and Rage

Why do some people habitually react with anger and rage to all kinds of situations? It could be something physical, like a brain injury or some other neurological problem. Most often, anger and rage is seen in people who have been violated, trapped, or stopped from being who they are or doing what theyneeded to do. They've been in situations where they don't see a choice or don't see a way out of a horrible or emotionally painful situation. Among many other things, this can include physical or sexual abuse or seeing others abused; experiencing a natural disaster, such as a tornado, earthquake or tsunami; or being kidnapped or held hostage. This kind of emotional pain often creates symptoms of PTSD.

It's Either Depression or Rage

It makes sense that, when we experience horrible things that we have no power to change or stop, we either despair and get depressed, or we get really angry - or both. These are all survival mechanisms. We need to do something with the feeling of utter helplessness so that we can survive it physically and emotionally.

PTSD

Living in a long-term helpless situation-such as children who are physically and sexually abused or who see one of their parents or siblings being harmed in this way-has long-term effects that stay in our bodies and nervous systems. That feeling of horror, powerlessness and helplessness is always there, either on the surface or underneath. That's also true of one-time events, such as the natural disasters or the kinds of horrible experiences I mentioned above. This is what's called PTSD, or Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. Whenever something happens that has even a small flavor of the original events, it "triggers," or evokes, the whole, huge awful feeling again. And the reaction to this can be anger or rage.

Rage is Survival, But It Costs Us

Although we can see that anger and rage originally served as a means of survival, if it keeps on coming up in a person, the cost is huge! It wrecks close relationships, it makes people lose their jobs, and it hurts! Each time someone gets triggered and goes through rage, they're traumatized all over again. The traumatic stress-all that fear, helplessness, trapped feeling-has again flooded the person. All that adrenaline floods the person again and again. This can lead to a number of stress diseases.

EFT Helps With PTSD Anger and Rage

I've had a lot of clients who have some level of anger where they're holding emotional pain from the past. EFT Tapping is usually very helpful in healing from PTSD and calming the body and nervous system, so that previously triggering experiences are more like distant pictures. The painful PTSD reaction is gone!

Getting Started With EFT

What has only 2 fingers, 9 spots, and can change your life forever? EFT!

Most people are very nervous to actually get started. Fortunately, we can even use EFT to address that nervousness. Say this statement aloud. "I am afraid to even get started." Rate the intensity or truth of this statement on a 0-10 scale with a 0 meaning that it is absolutely not true for you and 10 being very true for you. Give your first impression. I recommend that you actually write that number down.

Tap continuously on your karate chop point and repeat this statement aloud three times. "Even though I am afraid to even get started, I deeply and completely accept my feelings and myself." After you have done that, tap at each of the eight tapping points while repeating the statement "I am afraid to even get started."

Eyebrow - "I am afraid to even get started."

Side of Eye - "I am afraid to even get started."

Under the Eye - "I am afraid to even get started."

Nose - "I am afraid to even get started."

Chin - "I am afraid to even get started."

Collarbone - "I am afraid to even get started."

Under the Arm - "I am afraid to even get started."

Top of Head - "I am afraid to even get started."

Say the original statement aloud again, "I am afraid to even get started." Rate the intensity on your 0-10 scale and write down your response. Compare the results. Did the number go up? If so, continue tapping on the original statement. Did the number go down? If it only went down a little bit, feel free to repeat the process several times until your rating is below a 2 or 3.

As you tap, different questions or issues will come up in your mind. Write them down. It is generally useful to stick with your original statement until the intensity is very low before switching gears to another topic. Once the intensity feels lower, you are ready to move to the next tapping sequence.

EFT With Images of Abundance

Do you know anyone who could do with expanding their income? One good way to improve your finances is to get pictures representing abundance, look at them and tap until you feel comfortable about them. You can also imagine the picture. Anyone is capable of imagining pictures except if you cannot read maps, in which case, neurologically, this may not be physically possible. So you can either imagine or get some pictures off the internet or magazines to give you guidance. You can get holiday, property or car magazines, for example, and choose which image you wish to close your eyes and imagine is yours.

Start by imagining yourself in that nice holiday resort or a nice home, for example. Then ask yourself:

* How clear is the picture?
* Can you see it at all or is there something between you and the picture?
* Is it in color or black and white?

If you have removed all blocks, all your wealth pictures should be clear and in color. Also, you can see yourself inside the picture, as if you are looking around you, rather than looking at the picture in your mind inside a picture frame. Any difference to this means that you have a statement to tap on. For example, if there is a wall between you and your picture, tap on "Even though there is this wall between me and my wealth..."; if the picture is black and white, tap on "Even though it's black and white"; etc...

Another way is to cut out pictures from magazines and tap directly as you look at the picture itself. So if you want a new car for example, get a car magazine and cut out the picture of a car that you would like. Then ask yourself:

* How much do you feel that you can have the abundance item in this picture?
* If you feel any discomfort as you look at this picture, where do you feel it in your body?

If for instance, you feel 50% confident that you can buy the car in the picture, you can tap for "Even though I only feel 50% confident I can buy this car...". If when you look at the picture, you feel a discomfort in your stomach, you can tap for "Even though I have this discomfort in my stomach...". When you feel 100% confident and there is no discomfort, then you have removed the main emotional blocks in your path to this success.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) for Health

EFT

EFT was founded by Gary Craig, in America, drawing on work from Roger Callahan, and influenced by John Diamond and George Goodheart. Craig's teachings have spread across the world, both by individuals who travelled to his workshops in America, and equally through 12 sets of DVDs, which recorded minute by minute the workshops he gave. Latterly he offered an on-line qualification, rigorous in its attention to detail. Through these means EFT is offered by various practitioners in London.

EFT is a psychological version of acupuncture without the needles. Acupuncture points are tapped with your fingertips, whilst focussing on the issue or symptom to be resolved, this serves to rebalance your energy and resolve the physical or emotional problem.

Although unbelievably simple its results can be profound for both physical or emotional issues. The process is easy to memorise and is portable, so once learned, you can do it for yourself, anywhere.

Good results have been achieved with EFT for arthritis, EFT for pain, EFT for weight loss, EFT for anxiety. I find good most patients see a tangible difference in their symptoms after treatment with EFT, between the beginning of treatment, to the end of a treatment. Generally this is gauged by the patient giving a severity out of ten, for the pain (or the condition), and asking them how it has changed after treatment; commonly it goes from a high number to zero.

EFT can and will profoundly change your world, if you want it to. It allows freedom from pain, relief from symptoms, but more, it allows you to rise above hidden hurdles that keep you from performing to your capacity.

I am struck in my clinic the correlation between a patients symptoms, and negative emotions. For example, a patient with chronic knee pain, cried out "I miss the dogs". He had left 3 dogs in Italy, where he had lived before he return to London. We worked through the emotional issues entwined in that, and the knee pain disappeared!

As an acupuncturist, I have never seen such a correlation between specific emotions and specific symptoms. It seems far fetched for most of us. However, it works!

However, its application is far wider than physical symptoms. It is equally effective for overcoming limiting beliefs regarding earning potential, improving your golf score, addictions; freedom from phobias and PTSD.

Simply, it allows us to go about our lives more effectively.

EFT: Tap Your Way to More Productivity

Use EFT To Tap Into Better Business Habits

Sandi Krakowski wrote a very honest article today that discussed the only way to build a successful business is to treat it like a business. Her motivation for writing this was Donald Trump's statement that in order to clean up this country, it needs to be run like a business. Politics aside (please), the point was that you can't slap a website up online, or purchase a business starter kit, and really call yourself a business. Well, I guess you can call yourself whatever you want, but it's not going to make money unless you spend time building it.

The reason I'm writing this article is because I've heard this message so many times (and is always worth hearing again), but there are a lot of issues around this topic that prevent people from actually taking the steps necessary to turn their business into something profitable.

Typically, people know what they are supposed to do in order to start making money. We can all learn new strategies for list building, sales, communication, etc. But the general "to-dos" still remain consistent.

Not knowing what to do is not the problem. The real problem is actually doing it.

The way we do one thing is the way we do everything. So if you are someone who knows what you're supposed to do, but you still don't do it, you probably have blocks that are preventing you from building your business into a money making machine. If you don't get rid of those blocks on a cellular level, you will always be fighting yourself to make it happen. And the fight against your subconscious mind is always a losing battle.

So the question you need to begin with is not "What do I need to do?" You already know the answer to that. The question that will get you moving into action is, "What am I feeling that is preventing me from doing what I know I need to do?"

The answers that come up are tappable blocks that can be removed very easily with EFT. You may be surprised at what answers you come up with. Here are some of the most common:

I'm not good enough

I don't know enough

There are other people who are better than me

I'm afraid I'll be judged

I'm afraid I'll fail

These fears and thought patterns will stop you in your tracks, preventing you from ever accomplishing any of your business goals. Let's walk through a tapping sequence that you can use to bring down the negative charge:

Set up phrase:

Even though I don't feel like I know enough to make a difference....I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself.

Even though I don't feel like I'm not good enough to put myself out there....I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself.

Even though I think there are so many other people who can do better than I ever could...I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself.

And tapping through the points:

eyebrow: I don't know enough

side of eye: I'm not good enough

under eye: Other people are better than me

under nose: I don't have enough to offer

chin: All the fear that is holding me back

collar bone: these fears are paralyzing me from making a move

under the arm: I'm so afraid to fail

top of the head: all these fears

Do this round several times until you feel the negative emotions start to come down. You'll most likely experience some shifts in thinking too. Just note how your internal pictures change (remember, our minds think in pictures) and tap for anything else that comes up for you.
