Courses in Reiki - What Should I Look for in a Reiki Course?

There are some key ingredients to look for when you explore courses in Reiki. What I am going to do for you in this article is break down each part that you should look for, and give you an overview with some details about each part. So, here we go...

1. Reiki Attunement

All courses in Reiki that are legitimate will give you the Reiki Attunement. This is an experience where the Reiki Master (or your Teacher) will send the Reiki Energy into your body. It is meant to expose and release the Energy that is within you already. This part of the course is probably the most important, because it is also the key effort on part of your Teacher as well. A Reiki Attunement can be quite intense (in a positive sense) and usually the duration of its effects last about 7 days or up to about a week.

2. Reiki Lineage

Another thing to look for when you explore different courses in Reiki, is to make sure that your Teacher is telling you their lineage to the original Reiki Master (founder) named Dr. Usui. Because Dr. Usui is long gone now (at least his body and earthly form is gone) if you can find a Teacher or Reiki course that is less than 15 generations of Masters, then you are in a pretty good spot. This ensures that your course is both authentic in being preserved to the original teachings, but it also ensures you that your Teacher is connected to the Reiki community as a whole.

3. Course Cost and Content

So the last and final part that I want you to look for when exploring courses in Reiki, is the cost and coverage of content. As far as content goes, you need something that is going to cover level 1, level 2, and level 3. It's just nice to study the whole theory instead of just one level at a time. There should be a rich amount of theory and history coverage, but in contrast, there needs to be an emphasis on what techniques you can use to practice both on yourself and how to heal others. I personally think that a Reiki training course that is under 200 dollars (US) is a pretty good deal. But just don't sign up for something that is so low that you might question the Healers practice... The Teacher sets the price to try to meet you where you are at.

Here is a really helpful page about Courses in Reiki. I would recommend that you take a look, but also watch the video that is posted about half-way down the page.
