Health Care in Summer

Summer is not a pleasant season. It is too hot that many people would not have a good appetite. And the hot temperature makes people undesired to do anything. As a result, health care in summer is more difficult than that in other three seasons. Experts tell us that we should at least do six things to keep ourselves healthy in summer.

First of all, we should sleep late and get up early in the morning. The daytime comes early in summer so that people tend to wake up much earlier than usual. Therefore, we do not need to go to bed early in the night. But sometimes, there will be a problem. We may feel sleepy in the daytime. So doctors suggest us to take a nap at noon. They point out that the length of nap varies from people to people. In general, half an hour to one hour is appropriate. For people who do not have the habit of taking naps, listening music for thirty to fifty minutes can also help.

Secondly, we should keep a relaxed mood. Traditional Chinese medical researchers hold the view that the activities of heart correspond with summer. People tend to be anxious and bad-tempered. So people ought to pay more attention to heart care in summer. They are suggested to drink more milk and eat more bean products and chicken. Vegetables and fruit are also beneficial to keep a wonderful mood.

Thirdly, porridge is more suitable for summer. People can add some lotus leaves or mung beans to the porridge so that it is useful in detoxification.

Fourthly, fruit is not suitable for everyone. For people who has a poor stomach, gentle fruit is more appropriate. For them, fruit should be neither too sweet, nor too sour. As for people who have gastric ulcer, they have to keep away from watermelon and cantaloupe.

Fifthly, do not forget to complement nutrition. The balance of sodium and potassium is very crucial in health care. Since it is hot in summer, the release of potassium is quicker than usual. Therefore, people have to complement nutrition through food. For example, tomato, pepper and plum are good choices. Bean products and mushrooms supply adequate potassium, while fish, eggs and meat provide a large amount of protein, such as casein. Besides, watermelon, strawberry and cucumber are good to maintain moisture.

Sixthly, do not eat food as soon as they are taken out of refrigerators. Cold food would stimulate the intestines and the stomach. In consequence, the physical functions of organs would be in disorder. The best temperature for human beings is 36 degrees centigrade. So put cold food aside for a while before eating. More importantly, people should not eat cold at one time. Children, the elderly and stomachache patients should not eat cold food at all.

Guidelines for a Quality Home Health Service

Home Health is what a physician recommends on a short-term basis. This might be when a person is recovering from a severe illness or surgery, and needs assistance. Even after the hospital stay is over and they are in their house, the person might continue to need a period of nursing and medical assistance. This is what Home Health services offer. If you need the assistance of qualified Home Health personnel for yourself, or a loved one, here are a few frequently asked questions and answers.

In what situations can Home Health be recommended?

It is a specialized recommendation by the physician. The medical practitioner might determine that you need the services of nursing practitioners while you recover in your own home.

Is it covered by Mediclaim programs?

It is focused on providing medical assistance. It is usually paid by Medicare. It is meant to provide financial assistance to homebound people who are temporarily unable to leave their home without assistance. According to Medicare guidelines, if the person leaves home for "...short, infrequent trips...such as a trip to the barber...more than once a week" they are not eligible for Mediclaim coverage.

What kind of services could be covered under it?

It usually focuses on different kinds of specialized therapies to help you while you are rehabilitating. Often a person might temporarily lose the functions of certain parts of his body, or the ability to speak properly due to certain medical conditions. Health practitioners can offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, or therapy for speech or language fluency, to assist the person in their recovery. It is completely medical and does not include services to assist with basic 'sitter' functions such as dressing or grooming. If you require a service that assists the person with everyday functions on a long-term basis in home surroundings, in-home care could be an option.

How long does the trained nurse remain everyday with the person being cared for?

A Home Health nurse usually does not stay more than an hour. Their services focus on the medical assistance that has been recommended by the physician to help the person recover. A home care giver on the other hand offers to assist the person with everything that they find difficult to do on their own, including preparing food and going on errands. They might also escort the person for medical appointments.

Paying for Home Health Care

Health care services are seen as the right of every citizen. But what about elderly individuals who want to be cared for at home? Who will foot their bill? Home health care can be paid for by the patient himself, his family, through public funding, or through private sources. Public third-party payers include Medicaid, Medicare, the Veterans Administration, the Older American Act, and the Social Services grant programs.

There are also community organizations such as the Alzheimer's Association and the American Cancer Society who can help elderly patients foot the home health care bill. Meanwhile, private third-party payers include managed care associations, workers' compensation, health insurance companies, and CHAMPUS. Inevitably, some people will fail to meet the criteria set by third-party payers. In these cases, patients would need to shoulder the cost of care themselves. Home care providers might be open to negotiation.

? Medicaid - this program is administered by the state. It is joint federal-state assistance for low-income Americans. The eligibility requirements of each state vary; however, they are only required to give home health services to people who receive federally-assisted income (such as Social Security Income and Aid to Families with Dependent Children. Individuals who are "categorically needy" can also take advantage of this service. Categorically needy include individuals who are disabled, blind, or who live below federal poverty levels but with incomes that are too high for meet coverage.

? Medicare - most Americans above the age of 65 are eligible to get Medicare assistance. If an individual wants to get home care services, he or she may get the services offered by a Medicare-certified agency. Depending on the medical condition of the patient, the agency may provide physical and occupational therapy, nursing, and HCA services. Patients can also get access to medical supplies. The referring physician needs to authorize home health care plan, and this needs to be re-certified every six months.

? Older American Act (OAA) - it was enacted in 1965. OAA funds state and local social programs that are designed to help older individuals remain independent. This federal funding covers personal care, HCA, chore, meal deliver, and even shopping services for elderly people who need it most. A person must be at least 60 years old to quality.

? Veterans Administration - veterans who sustained service-related injuries and are at least 50% disable will get coverage from the Veterans Administration. A physician will authorize the services; it will be delivered through the agency's home care units.

? Social Services Grant Programs - every year, a state will get block grants from the federal government. This will fund state-identified social requirements. A portion of the funding will be allotted for programs that provide chore worker services and HCA to elderly individuals.

For individuals who have commercial insurance coverage, their coverage varies. Most policies offer a certain level of home care services for people with acute needs. However, a lot of individuals encounter problems with longer-term services. In Purchasing Medigap insurance would offer comprehensive home care services.

Finding the Right Home Health Care Agency: How Much Will This Cost?

Part of the concern that many people have when it comes to allowing a home health care agency to take care of their elderly relatives is how they will pay for it. Some people are much better equipped to handle their later years because they saved money or have some kind of a pension program that will allow them to pay for their own health care. However, others have to rely on income from family members or government agencies. This is why it's important to choose a home health care agency that can help you navigate the tricky waters of budgeting for elderly care.

The first important factor to take into consideration is speaking with the home health care agency to see if they can offer any support or advice about whether Medicare or Medicaid will pay for any portion of the person's care. There are so many variables to consider such as whether or not it will be considered long or short term care. Will it be rehabilitative (physical therapy or speech therapy) or medically necessary (care that must be provided by a Registered Nurse).

If the expenses do not fit into the Medicare services, than you may have out of pocket expenses. However these costs could also be paid for by long term insurance. Most people who need additional care or assistance (that isn't covered by Medicare) choose to hire a private pay home care provider, OR they move into an assisted living or nursing home.

Remember to consider the expenses from the agency as well. You can ask questions as to the their fees including if there are any additional costs for weekends, holidays or other business hours.

Another important consideration is who pays the worker's Social Security and whether or not the company provides worker's compensation just in case there is an injury in the home while the employee is providing care. You also want to understand their billing procedure and whether or not you pay the worker or the agency directly. They should also be able to tell you if the agency bills Medicare or any other insurance directly for the covered services.

When discussing the hours the home health care worker will work in the home, make sure you know whether or not there are a minimum number of hours or days per week that are required by the agency. In essence, you want to know if there are going to be any unexpected fees or extra charges that may come up.

The Health Benefits of Honey

Most of us are familiar with the many health benefits of bee pollen. This bee byproduct is packed with vitamins, minerals, proteins, and other nutrients; when we eat bee pollen as a food supplement, we are treating our bodies to a significant percentage of many of the nutrients we need on a daily basis.

But when we think about the primary product that is harvested from beehives -- namely, honey -- we tend to believe that this is just a sweetener, a sugar substitute, a flavor enhancer, an ingredient in tomato-based barbecue sauces. However, honey is packed with nutrients as well; if eaten on a regular basis, honey can provide many of the nutrients your body needs, and it can act as a healing agent in other circumstances too.

Raw honey contains calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, phosphorous, sulfur, and potassium. These are all essential minerals that our bodies need in at least trace amounts. Honey also contains many B-complex vitamins as well as Vitamin C; the amounts of these vitamins change depending on the quality of the nectar and pollen the honey is made from. Honey also contains proteins, and the enzyme glucose oxidase, which in turn produces hydrogen peroxide when honey is diluted with water. Hydrogen peroxide is an antibacterial agent that gives certain varieties of honey their healing properties.

Because of its antibacterial character, honey can be used as a dressing for wounds; honey was in fact widely used in field dressings during both world wars in the last century. Apply honey directly to a wound and cover it with a bandage. A honey dressing reduces pain and inflammation, prevents excessive scarring, combats infection, and encourages the growth of new skin. Through osmosis, honey absorbs moisture around the wound, thus drying the wound and killing bacteria.

One of the most effective strains of honey in treating wounds has been identified by Peter Molan, a biochemist working at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. Molan has shown that honey made from the flowers of the manuka bush, which is native to New Zealand, is particularly effective as an antibiotic -- because it contains an antibacterial agent other than the hydrogen peroxide that is released by all raw honey. Although this additional agent has not been precisely identified (Molan refers to it as the "unique manuka factor"), the antibacterial efficacy of manuka honey has been measured with precision over years of research. Manuka honey has been shown to counteract not only bacteria, but also fungi, protozoa, and strains of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics.

Honey can also be used to treat various skin conditions including eczema and psoriasis; it can help calm allergic reactions and inflamed insect bites. Simply rub the honey into affected areas. Because it is readily absorbed by the digestive system, honey improves digestion and can act as a mild laxative. And because of its antimicrobial properties, honey can relieve a sore throat: sweeten some herbal tea with honey, or lemon tea, so you can benefit from the Vitamin C in the citrus at the same time.

Honey also reinforces the body's immune system, because of its antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Honey, in fact, contains as high an antioxidant content as spinach, apples, berries, and other foods more often thought of as "healthy" foods. Dark honey has higher levels of antioxidants than light honey.

Honey also helps facilitate liver function. It contains roughly equal amounts of fructose and glucose; fructose serves to unlock an enzyme that occurs in the nuclei of liver cells, that is needed in the essential process of incorporating glucose into glycogen. The liver must store adequate quantities of glycogen, one of the body's most important sources of energy.

Raw, unprocessed honey is the most effective in terms of healing, whether you consume honey or use it to treat a wound. Raw honey contains pollen, the source of many of honey's essential nutrients, and pollen is destroyed during heat processing or exposure to light. When purchasing honey, make sure it is labeled "100 percent pure"; if in doubt, purchase your honey from a health food store rather than a supermarket. Store honey in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, so that it doesn't absorb moisture from the air. If honey is kept properly, it will keep for a long time without losing its healing properties.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) for Health

EFT

EFT was founded by Gary Craig, in America, drawing on work from Roger Callahan, and influenced by John Diamond and George Goodheart. Craig's teachings have spread across the world, both by individuals who travelled to his workshops in America, and equally through 12 sets of DVDs, which recorded minute by minute the workshops he gave. Latterly he offered an on-line qualification, rigorous in its attention to detail. Through these means EFT is offered by various practitioners in London.

EFT is a psychological version of acupuncture without the needles. Acupuncture points are tapped with your fingertips, whilst focussing on the issue or symptom to be resolved, this serves to rebalance your energy and resolve the physical or emotional problem.

Although unbelievably simple its results can be profound for both physical or emotional issues. The process is easy to memorise and is portable, so once learned, you can do it for yourself, anywhere.

Good results have been achieved with EFT for arthritis, EFT for pain, EFT for weight loss, EFT for anxiety. I find good most patients see a tangible difference in their symptoms after treatment with EFT, between the beginning of treatment, to the end of a treatment. Generally this is gauged by the patient giving a severity out of ten, for the pain (or the condition), and asking them how it has changed after treatment; commonly it goes from a high number to zero.

EFT can and will profoundly change your world, if you want it to. It allows freedom from pain, relief from symptoms, but more, it allows you to rise above hidden hurdles that keep you from performing to your capacity.

I am struck in my clinic the correlation between a patients symptoms, and negative emotions. For example, a patient with chronic knee pain, cried out "I miss the dogs". He had left 3 dogs in Italy, where he had lived before he return to London. We worked through the emotional issues entwined in that, and the knee pain disappeared!

As an acupuncturist, I have never seen such a correlation between specific emotions and specific symptoms. It seems far fetched for most of us. However, it works!

However, its application is far wider than physical symptoms. It is equally effective for overcoming limiting beliefs regarding earning potential, improving your golf score, addictions; freedom from phobias and PTSD.

Simply, it allows us to go about our lives more effectively.

How To Say NO to Compromise and YES to Your Health

When I was interviewed for the Inner Healing Compass teleseminar series, I talked about how setting healthy boundaries can prevent long term physical pain and illness. I've considered this a lot lately, because it seems that most of the work I do with clients is based around feeling safe enough to set boundaries and avoid compromise.

One of my clients felt compromised and the result was that her allergies flared up.

I did an emergency EFT session with a client a few weeks ago. Her allergies had flared up and she'd experienced a migraine. She had guests staying in the house and she was highly sensitive to their clothes due to the laundry detergent they used, amongst other things.

After asking her a few questions, it became obvious that she felt extremely compromised and pressurised because of the guests in her house. She felt she had to be an attentive hostess, fun and energetic, and confessed she didn't enjoy people staying in their house. In fact, she didn't want people in the house at all. She was exhausted and frustrated. No wonder her body was expressing its discontent in the form of allergic reactions.

Set boundaries before your body has to set them for you.

For the sake of our health, it's important to learn how to set boundaries; otherwise, if we continue to compromise what we want and need, it comes down to our body to do it for us - usually in the form of chronic pain, or potentially serious symptoms.

Through using EFT with my client, she was able to tap away the frustrations she felt, and the anxiety about future guests staying with them later in the summer. She decided - easily - that she would ask the next people coming to see them to stay in a local hotel. She felt relieved, and empowered. It felt right to create boundaries which supported her.

Tap away your anxieties, or resistance, about looking after yourself.

If you like the idea of this, but you're thinking, "Well, I could never do that. What would they think of me? It's easier to compromise", you may find the following tapping transcript helpful.

Tap the karate chop point on the other hand while saying the following:

Even though I'm afraid I'll offend them, what if I don't?

Even though they may not like it, I deserve to consider what I need

Even though I feel uncomfortable setting boundaries and honouring myself, I'm willing to do my best anyway

Now tap the following places while saying each of the phrases below:

Top of head: I want to set some boundaries

Eyebrow: but it all feels so different and uncomfortable

Side of eye: this could change everything

Under eye: and I'm not sure I want to risk that

Under nose: what if I upset her?

Chin: what if I don't? Collarbone: what if it fulfills her needs, too

Under arm: because then she'll know what to expect?

Liver: I'm open to the possibility that this could work for both of us

Wrists: and our relationship will be even easier, more respectful, and more enjoyable as a result.

After you have tapped through this round, write down how you're feeling and any new thoughts which have come up, then tap again, changing the wording if you need to. Remember, the phrases you use are simply a way of outwardly expressing how you're feeling. You don't need to be creative - just state what's on your mind and tap through the points.

Stress, Health, and Wealth

How you're able to deal with stress, will determine your wellness and wealth. All types of emotional and physical disorders can be caused by stress and thus effect mood and behavior. All of our thoughts enter our system as energy and those carrying emotional, psychological, mental, or spiritual energy are stored in cellular memory as biological responses. Learning to minimize stress is a function of mind-body activity that can be facilitated tremendously with hypnosis.

Stress shows up in everyone's lives. It can come from our relationships, work or home environments, or any other situation. Our actions to stressors dictate how we're affected and unfortunately many of us easily become overwhelmed. Millions of people around the world are trying to cope with the consequences as we deal with the challenges present in 2011. Much helpful information is available through The American Institute of Stress at stress.org where you'll find 50 common signs and symptoms.

We try to not let stress and anxiety affect our relationships but it often does. When we find ourselves uncharacteristically being rude to co-workers or short with our loved ones, even snapping at defenseless children, it's easy to see something needs to change. The behavior makes us feel even worse, which tends to increase stress levels even more, compounding the problem.

Hypnosis can often break the reactionary chain by giving us the tools we need to understand what the stress and anxiety is doing to us. When we "react" rather than "act" typically there is an underlying subconscious program producing that behavior. Caroline Myss, Ph.D. says, "Every thought you have had has traveled through your biological system and activated a physiological response." "Some thoughts are like depth charges, causing a reaction throughout the body." She provides an example of the physical manifestation of symptoms related to fear, where heart rate increases, the stomach may tighten, or you may breakout in a sweat. A hypnotherapist can calm anxiety and teach the patient how to activate thoughts and physical actions that can help alleviate those unhealthy reactions.

Sometimes there may be no logical reason for a fear. It is then you can be sure a subconscious memory from an unpleasant experience is activating that automatic reaction. Example: A dog that frightened you as a child may be responsible for your aversion to dogs as an adult. "Viewing the event" again through access to the unconscious mind can then permit the logical conscious awareness to recognize there is no reason to "hate dogs".

Hypnotherapy offers options to deal with anxiety and stress in such a way that reprogrammed behavior provides desired actions. You will be able to deal with everyday stress in a positive rather than a negative manner. This unfortunately does not mean that you'll simply be totally and permanently shielded from the effects of stress. Events in our lives can be serious enough to challenge wellness over an extended period of time. An example would be dealing with the stress and consequences of a job loss. The competent therapist will help you understand that the "unemployment stress" need not be viewed as an absolute all or nothing event. "Positive" and "negative" define the same continuum and you have the ability to move your wellness gage in a healthier direction with specific thoughts and actions which can be learned.

Learning to mentally affect your physiology is one of the healthiest of undertakings available to you. Your body will thank you; so will your family and friends. Stress is linked to everything from the common cold, to AIDS, and cancer. A hypnotherapist can help you activate powerful tools available to reduce stress and boost your personal mood and wellness.

The author, R.D. Cooper, C.Ht has maintained a curiosity regarding deeper sense of self, connectedness to others, nature, and the spiritual dimension for over 25-years. He is a student, teacher, and guide who believes: Logically, if unconscious beliefs largely guide daily behavior, either limiting or empowering... why wouldn't people want to truly understand how to powerfully step into The Greatest Reality Show on Earth... the one they write the script for everyday... and unlock the full potential of their original blueprint? Hypnotherapy does just that. Roy is associated with Wendy Hill, M.A., CCHT, a certified clinical hypnotherapist specializing in transforming self defeating core beliefs. You can learn more about hypnotherapy and Wendy Hill at her website, http://www.sandiego-hypnotherapist.com or http://www.wendyhill.com.

Water Ionizers - Using Water to Heal and Improve Health and Well Being

For people who are not only interested in proper hydration, but also want to cleanse the body from toxins, water ionizers are effective and excellent machines, these can turn normal tap water into a good cleanser that has antioxidant effects.

Water with a negative charge(ORP) is known to retard the aging process. A high or rising ORP, on the other hand, causes oxidation and therefore aging. Machine-ionized water counteracts this rising ORP and has a rejuvenating effect on a cellular level. For instance, freshly squeezed orange juice has a negative ORP of -250. Although we can only drink comparatively small amounts of orange juice in a day without becoming overburdened by the sugar it contains, we can drink as much ionized water as we wish in a day (although it is generally best not to exceed 8 glasses per day).

Ionized water also contains hydroxyl ions. These are oxygen molecules with an extra electron attached to them, as are such antioxidants vitamins A, C and E. You can see these molecules in the form of thousands of tiny bubbles when you slow down the water flow on the water ionizer. Hydroxyl ions scavenge free oxygen radicals and provide us with extra oxygen and energy. Oxygen carries away acid waste from body tissue. It inhibits cancer cells and protects us against bacteria and viruses invading the body. Oxygen is the body's most essential nutrient. Ionized water also helps balance the body's pH which tends to become acidic when on a diet comprised of processed, refined and preserved foods. Besides meat and highly acid-forming foods, medical drugs and soft drinks contain the most acidifying substances you can consume. Because it is alkaline, ionized water can help dissolve accumulated acid waste and protect the body against acidity-related illness (most diseases are a form of acidosis).

The human body consists mostly of water. Ionized water is fundamentally different from conventional water. In ionized water, the size and shape of the water molecule cluster is smaller, which allows it to pass through intestinal walls, blood capillary walls, and cell walls more easily and remove toxins and acidic waste matter more effectively. This makes ionized water an excellent detoxifier. Water ionizers have several levels of strength. Accordingly, people who have accumulated a lot of toxins in the body may begin by drinking "mild" ionized water (lower alkaline pH) and gradually increase ionization levels as they get used to it. Besides its health benefits, ionized water also improves the taste of foods and beverages. It also ionizes the minerals in the food, which helps make them more biologically available.

One of the primary causes of disease is chronic cellular dehydration, a condition which leaves the body's cells in a perpetual state of weakness and defense. Ionized water is up to six times more hydrating than conventional water. In other words, by drinking less or the same amount of water but in ionized form, you will actually hydrate your cells much more effectively. (Note: The sipping of hot ionized water is used to remove toxins from the tissues and therefore rarely hydrates cells directly. However, once the toxins are removed, the cells become more efficiently hydrated than before.)

The water ionizers separate alkaline water from acid water. The alkaline water is good for drinking and the acid water is good for external applications. When applied topically, the ionized acid water tightens skin, and helps remove wrinkles, acne and other blemishes. At its strongest level, ionized acid water kills most harmful bacteria on contact. It improves hair and skin conditions of any kind, including removal of fungus, healing of cuts, scrapes, and even serious wounds. It takes the itch out of mosquito bites, and the sting out of other insect bites. You can also use it to remove pesticides from fruits and vegetables. Lastly, ionized acid water promotes substantially healthier plant growth. Tyent USA offers one of the most efficient, precise and user-friendly water ionizers, and I can recommend it to anyone who is interested in using water as a healing method or as an enhancement of health and well being.

If you have allowed your home to get this dirty, it will feel quite challenging to clean it. The psychic debris is dragging you down and making it difficult to move forward...in clearing your physical space and in everything in your life.
Focus on the center of your home. What do you see and feel here? If there is a closet, make sure everything in it is being used, is in good working condition and kept tidy. Think EARTH. This area is associated with the earth element. You can strengthen your health energy by placing objects representing the earth here such as plants in large pots (make sure they are healthy), rocks (granite table), pottery, sculptures and by using earthy colors such as terra cotta, browns, golds and yellows.
Is there a bathroom or washing machine in the center of your home? If so, your health energy is going down the drains. Keep the door shut, the toilet/washer lid down and the sink or shower drains closed when not in use. Putting a mirror on the outside of the bathroom door will repel the energy back into the house.
Plants are wonderful for adding vibrant energy. Make sure they are healthy, vibrantly green and lush. Watch for spiky plants such as spider and cactus, as they should be avoided. Weeping plants such as willows and mulberry can bring on depression, particularly in the front yard. Your bedroom is an especially important place to keep healthy plants, as you spend much of your time resting and regenerating there. Using an odd number is most powerful.
Spiral staircases are very unhealthy, as their corkscrew shape creates a downward energy. The cures for this are: Place a big potted plant under the stairwell to catch the chi and send it upward. Place another plant at the top of the stairs to help pull the energy up as you climb them. Wrap a green silk vine around the handrail, beginning at the bottom and ending at the top. Feel the healing energy of the green color as you walk up the stairs. Hang a crystal ball at the top of the staircase, feeling its energy uplifting and energizing the location.
Watch for sharp corners or heavy beams , especially ones pointing at you while you are sitting at the table, your favorite chair, or directly at or over your bed. These are actually called "poison arrows" in Feng Shui and can be remedied in several ways. If you cannot move the pointed object, placing a plant, crystal ball or brass bell in front of it will soften and distract the chi. Beams can be wrapped in silk or live vines. Beams painted the same color as the ceiling are not as powerful as ones that are darker.
Keep electric items such as clocks, phones and radios away from your bed. Move them at least 2-3 feet away from your body, as these electrical appliances lower resistance and absorb vital energy. If you use an electric blanket, be sure to turn it off before you cozy down for the night.
Make sure your air is healthy and fresh. Air filters can be helpful in areas where unhealthy air or allergies are a problem. Opening windows and keeping air circulating is wonderful, unless of course you have allergies.
Vacuum for a quick pick-me-up. If you have a high-quality vacuum, using it is an easy way to clean up the chi and get an area energized. I often use this technique between client visits. Beware: many vacuums just break the dirt into smaller particles and spit it out again.
Check for toxic materials in your home. Old carpet and paint can emit toxic residue, dust mites and mold into your home and your family. Check your cleaning supplies and use only natural-based products. This will not only be better for you and your family, you will be helping the planet as a whole.
Lower energies from abuse of any kind can have a toxic effect on your health. Especially if your home has had other owners before you, you may have psychic debris embedded in your corners, floors and walls. The same goes for used furniture, especially beds. Replacing old mattresses and beds can do wonders for creating new beginnings, including new health. Clear toxic space by hiring a professional space clearer or learn to do it yourself with Karen Kingston's book Creating Sacred Space With Feng Shui.
With placing, rearranging and creating all Feng Shui cures, it is always important to visualize your intention or the outcome you want to see. Imagine your health vibrant, clear, energized, radiant and glowing! If you have a health challenge, feel and see your health improving. Trust this or something better is on its way!

Take a few minutes this week and walk through your home with this list. By making a few changes today, you may avoid serious health problems tomorrow.

Don't Simply Avoid Stress - Master Good Health With Proven Reiki Healing Techniques

Stress is one of the key components linked to disease in our society today. Managing work, home, and family can pile on stress without our noticing of it. This is why so many people are turning to the stress-reducing techniques such as Reiki, a spiritual energy used with healing, meditation, and spiritual growth.

Starting Reiki

When a person experiences Reiki, an initiation known as "Reiki Attunement" begins. This brings the person into a relationship with Reiki energy, and is usually taught by a Reiki master teacher. During a Reiki attunement, a person's dense energy is cleared and released, and etheric and chakras fields are strengthened causing the person to receive and transmit high frequency healing light. As one progresses, he can progress to master Reiki healing and Reiki symbols as well.

Why do we stress?

Stress takes hold of a person when he is fearful, doubtful, or anxious about life events. He often experiences tensed muscles without realizing it. The body's reaction is fatigue, moodiness and disease. Most people think of relaxation as heading home after work and turning on the TV, going to the gym, or stopping whatever was causing them stress in the first place. Relaxation IS NOT simply avoiding stress; it is utilizing healing by employing techniques such as Reiki.

Reiki eliminates the emotional and physical effect of stress by balancing chi and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system to release healing hormones which restores balance to the body, mind, and spirit. One can return to a relaxed, peaceful state daily by practicing and mastering Reiki techniques.

Relaxation approaches

The top approaches of Reiki healing include trained looking, blowing, and light tapping. Reiki massage incorporates palm healing and energy transfer. Reiki symbols (or simbolos), such as fire and Usui, are also used to transfer healing energy. Musica is often used by drumming and introduces Reiki energy to a person's body through the medium of percussion beat. The musica acoustics create a deep, relaxing state and relaxation begins.

The connection between the physical body, spiritual being, and mind is absolute. There is no way to disassociate the effect of the psyche on the body. Stress is a burden of the mind that leaks into the everyday actions of one's entire being in a negative way. Using Reiki techniques to manage and master stress truly leads a person to a relaxed, peaceful life. As balance re-enters your life you will feel confident in your ability to benefit your home, your job, and your community.

Health and Balance: Ayurveda

Ayurveda medicine, or Ayurveda, is a system of living healthy that has been used by individuals living in India for over 5,000 years. It stresses good health as well as the treatment and prevention of sickness via lifestyle applications such as yoga, massage, dietary adjustments, and meditation along with the benefits of herbal therapies.

Ayurveda is holistic. It views the mind and body as one. It not only helps improve an individual's physical ailments, but it aides in changing lifestyle habits that will help to improve as well as prolong health.

In line with Ayurveda medicine, space, air, earth, water and fire (the five elements) join within the body as three separate yet important components or 'doshas' known as Pitta, Kapha, and Vatta. These three doshas correlate closely with particular functions of the body and the five elements of nature surrounding us as follows:

- Pitta represents fire and water. According to Ayurveda medicine, digestion, intelligence, skin color, and even metabolism are control by Pitta, as well as emotions such as jealousy, hate, and anger.

- Kapha represents water and earth and is believed to govern the immune system and the actual physical structure of an individual, as well as forgiveness, love, calmness, and greed.

- Vatta represents air and space. According to Ayurveda medicine, joint and muscle movement, your heartbeat and your breathing are all controlled by this dosha. Emotions that fall under Vatta include fear, anxiety, and pain. Other such functions of the nervous system are said to be controlled by Vatta as well.

At conception, an individual's doshas are present and is believed to correlate with their personality as well as their physical structure. For example, an individual with more Vatta is believed to be more of a thin build and smaller frame. The Kapha is a bigger, more developed individual. And the Pitta is somewhat in the middle, being more of a muscular build than the others are. Although most people have a combination of these three doshas, usually one is more predominant than the others.

Ayurvedic believes that any imbalance in any of the doshas, illness develops. Treatment, according to Ayurvedic medicine, involves many methods including exercise, dietary and lifestyle changes, as well as the use of herbs. According to the philosophy behind Ayurvedic medicine, the use of counseling, meditation, and even yoga are also recommended treatments for illnesses and disease.

Using Ayurvedic Medicine

Individuals use Ayurvedic medicine for reducing stress, improving strength and flexibility, increasing stamina, and a means of maintaining their health. It also emphasis a healthy diet. The proper diet can aid in the treatment of diseases, as well as help to maintain good health. Herbal remedies are also used, and are suggested based upon each individuals own dosha type.

Research has begun in the effects of Ayurvedic medicine and the treatment of chronic and long-term illnesses such as diabetes and cancer.

Remember to always consult with your physician before beginning any new diet or exercise plan, including alternative medicines and therapies, especially if you are already taking medicines for current ailments and diseases.
